Colored Steering wheels
Well, since I'm gonna get a new wheel anyway, I decided to pull off those inserts and paint em myself just to see how they would look. They're sitting on a piece of cardboard on my garage floor drying right now. By morning, I'll have them back on the wheel and I'll post a pic (unless it's hideous). Stand by...
LOL... what the heck. It's fun messing around with disposable parts.

Actually, they don't look half bad. Still sitting on the garage floor with a few clear-coats setting. I think for a $6 mod, it won't look too bad at all.
That offer to burn them is still a possibility though, so get the furnace ready.

Ugh!!! It seems that last night, I put a clearcoat on before the base coat was fully dry. So this morning I found a very... how can I put it... "artistic" result.
Stripped them, and going on try #2.
If I was getting paid to be a painter, I would be fired and flipping burgers by now.
At least, I can tell that it'll look pretty good when done. This time I'm giving each coat a loooooong time to set. Still plan on throwing up some pics maybe late tonight.

Okay... all done. I kinda like the matching color on the wheel now. I dust-textured the last coat to give it a finish that scatters the light and makes everything look even. Below, as promised, is a before shot and two after shots (pics at night, so sorry for the flash):
