Minor annoyance...Trunk light!
When I was grocery shopping the other day, a storm came through and it hailed like crazy. I had the trunk lid open putting in my grocerys, and it got pretty wet in there. When I got home, I wanted to open the trunk a crack to let it dry out, but no matter how small an opening I left, the damn light stayed on! Seems Ford abandoned the trusty mercury switch in favor of a contact switch. I suppose I could Afro-rig some type of cutoff switch in there, but I dont want to cut up the stock wiring. Is anyone else bothered by this minor problem?
I just noticed that the day before yesterday too! When I'm working on the car I like to leave the trunk open, so I don't have be looking for my keys eveytime I need to get something or put something back in the trunk, a lot of times I hit the panic button instead of the trunk release button. I always think that the panic button is going to be the last button (the 4th button) and the trunk release is the 3rd button. Anyways, I didn't like seeing that the light wouldn't go off even though the trunk lid was all the way down (not locked though). Made me think that if I forgot to close it aftewards (which happened a couple of times when I had the 300M) it would drain the battery.
I thought I read that...theres a battery saver on these 2005 - 2006 Mustangs. If you leave lights on (like forget to shut them off while car is not running)a certain amount of time that the battery saver feature kicks in and shuts them off. I have to check it out when I get the chance.
Speaking from actual experience....and testing. The trunk light will go out after 30 minutes of continous use. The SJB will shut it off (smart junction box). It all runs on the same type circuit as the overhead courtesy lamps.
