Default CAN REARS BE CHANGED ON AUTO TRANS??

Have read here about owners changing rears to 4.1 or 4.3's etc. Can this be done to an auto 06 GT? If so what to do and what kind of results would I get? cost?

Yes of course gears can be changed!!! Here is a link for the gears:

http://www.brenspeed.com/mustang_2005/rearend.html

Now the gears are kinda cheap but the installation is gonna hurt your wallet maybe. I havent done the gear upgrade yet, but im planning to. Im going to get the xpipe first.

The thing you will notice is the acceleration of the car. The gears WILL make the car move. Thats what i have heard from other mustang forums people.

Ford installed my 3.73 gears and they are a huge improvement in the automatic cars!

What is the cost of such work? I would love additional acceleration on my Auto.....What did this set you back? Does it help your time in the 1/4 mile?

Cheers!

4.10s or nothing!

labor is usually a couple hundred bucks and you need something to reflash the computer to correct the speedo

I've got 3.73's in mine. 5th gear is great. My GT is a daily highway car used to get me back and forth to work.

If you use the car more in the city rather than the highway, I would say go with 4'10's

Just my $0.02

I have 4:10's in my auto. it was one of the best Mods. I have made to date they cost me about $300 to have installed. Just make sure if you have them done to get Ford racing and a very reputable person to install them if they are not shimmed right the gears can raise a lot of hell. I have a friend who also has a 05 he went through one set of Richmond gears they were replaced by the installer with another set of Richmond gears he drove around for several months with that irritating whine. When he heard my Ford gears I thank that's when he decided on changing to Ford gears which cost him more money to have them installed now the car does not make any noise.
