Shapman: A little heating of the enclosure, a small trim job on the nub inside the enclosure and the removal of the cover on the back of the RF 8's is all that is required. Minor mods but major gains.

GoldenPony: Yup, the outer ring on the factory subs just prys off.

I have been looking at these for the stock location: Kicker SSMB8 (see link below)

http://www.kicker.com/06/index-dom-high.html

They are under the "Mids & Tweets" tab and are the "SS" Series 8" drivers. They are made by one of the best Subwoofer manufacturers and they are a shalow mount. They can handle 175 Watts RMS and go down to 30Hz, so they should be a great candidate for an aftermarket amp, if they fit...

What do you think?

Also, does the stock amp power to the 6x8 speakers in the doors and rear deck have a hi-pass crossover on them to keep the bass out? Is it all directed to to subs in the doors?

Thanks,

Skrappy
The SSMB8 is what Kicker used in the black Mustang GT they built way back when on Overhaulin. Just so you all know. And I have the Kicker Comp VX8 in mine. Realize either of the Kickers will need to have some kind of custom work to the grill cover because it will stand out about 1/4" so all I am doing is fiberglassing a bit on to the end then I am going to repaint it. You can get replacement rings for like $6 ech from the dealer. I am going this route to keep the interior looking clean. Now on Overhaulin John from Kicker made a custom mounting ring since the stock speakers were 9 1/4" in diameter. I covered the rings with vinyl to match the rest of the interior. He emailed me some Hi resolution pics so if anyone wants copied of those just email me.

Anyway most speakers will not fit the factory grill.
