I have a top of the line digital Cobra, and have never even gotten close to being busted. Yes, it's saved my butt a million but just don't become addicted to it like me, when i drive in a car without it, i just get paranoid, i feel naked without it.

I have a cheap Rocky Mountain one off of ebay. It cost me $32 and works great. Distance is great, but it gives enough warning to give you time to slow down.

2006 Bel STi Driver $450.00 Only radar detector to defeat all RDD's. If you don't know what RDD is, you should probably do more research...

I have been using radar detectors for almost 25 years and have over that time owned several. I think of my two curent detectors, Valentine 1 and Passport, the V1 is much better - it is the one that is now in my Mustang. Why? Although the overall range on both is similar, the V1's features push it well ahead. The V1 has direction arrows, which show where the radar source is, side radar is meaningless and usually building alarms, and a bogey counter, so you know how many radar signals are near by. If you drive in a metropolitan area, these features help as the detectors go off alot and with it, you can figure out which threats are real. Just my opinion.

Escort 8500 X50--blistering sensitivity on Ka band. Reminds me of my old Escort in the 80's on X and K bands!

I have a V1 also. I had the cordless escort solo s2 before and there is just no comparison. My V1 is hard wired to the top of my windshield so the wire is really short and just comes down from my morror a couple of inches.

yeah I always thought that the arrows on the V1 were a gimmick...but everyone who has one swears by them.......so maybe there is something to it.
