Maybe they did not order that model,so ease off a little not all of are parents had that kind of money for the GT.

Just joking, not a bad idea to do that, would like to hear how it works out.

Hey I drove a Monte Carlo with automatic headlights for seven years. It sounds like a simple thing but believe me, you get spoiled having the headlights turn on and off on their own. When I test-drove the Mustang the first time I assumed that by now all cars had automatic headlights, but when I asked the sales guy where the sensor was he looked at me like I just stepped off the mothership.

I work nights, so I do alot of my driving either at night or at sunrise/sunset. I also park in a parking garage. After nine months of owning the Mustang I still tend to forget to turn my lights on/off.

Would you guys still have smart-aleck remarks if Mustangs didn't have power windows or door locks?

You mean like paying over 30 grand for a Jeep Wrangler that has less options then a 1960 Caddy vert ?

After driving Grand Prix's and Bonnevilles I thought that this would be standard equiptment. Bad enough to drive a 05 RedFire "cop magnet" without giving them another excuse to pull me over like forgetting to turn the headlights on. On the other hand, I really like the color of your choice dashboard light option.

I thought I rememberd seeing someone from Canada post looking to turn off the automatic headlights. Something about it was a requirement up there. Maybe I'm wrong but it wouldn't hurt to call a Canadian Ford service department and ask about it. -Joe

That's not a bad idea, I think up there the cars are also required to come with daytime running lights too.

I'm betting you could get all the parts you need from a Lincoln Zephyr or an Expedition (or any '05+ Ford/Lincoln/Mercury vehicle with auto headlights). They should wire right in.

completely off topic, but i love your car!

Canada requires DRL's on all new cars sold in Canada, but not automatic headlights. The DRL's come on whenever the motor is on or, like on most automatics, when in drive. The auto headlights are a different bird altogether. They are brighter and only come on when it is dark enough outside. DRL's, by law in the US, are not bright enough for night driving so you would still have to turn headlights on manually or do the mod to auto headlights using parts and modules from a more luxury-type car from Ford, Lincoln or Mercury. I'd imagine an experienced tech or mechanic at a Ford Service department could devise a way to swap parts to make it happen!
