'06 Painted stripes
Help, I have a '06 Roush that I want to paint "ghost stripes" on that will match the old ('65/'66) Shelby type stripes. By this I mean that the original stripes were wider on the roof and narrow towards the front and rear. Has anyone worked out the proper stripe widths for each separate panel. I have seen a 10" painted stripes over the entire car but they do not look good (to wide) as you approach the vehicle from the front or rear. I have the original diagram for the '65/'66 cars but I'm not sure those measurements will work on the newer Mustang. This is not something you can do over several times, trying to get it correct.
Rennie, I think this might be correct but don't hold me to it. I figured this out some time ago, and the % follow the same 65/66's
Start with whatever width you want at the front bumper/hood, add 13.5% to that to get the top of the hood/start of roof. Then subtract 1.2% to get back of roof. Then substract 2.4% to get trunk. Then substract 1.2% to get bottom of trunk and rear bumper.
Hope that helps and makes sense....

Thanks for the help. I also have a 1966 fastback (black of course like the '06) with black cherry "ghost stripes" that I'm trying to duplicate the look. I've buried the stripes under the clear coat so if you approach the '66 they are not evident unless the sun is bright. The '66 appears to be a narrower car (leaner) so I was worried that using the original stripe widths would not be wide enough. Thanks again.
