RE: Any ideas on how to Quiet Down the Compressor Clutch?
And thank you Jesse for such a useful and informative post!
I listened to mine today in the parking garage with the windows down and now I can barely hear the clicking sound from when the compressor cycles on/ off. It has gotten a lot quieter over the year I've had the car, so since your car is still relatively new you may just need to give it a little time to break in.

I'm taking it in with the notion that I will get the "It is Normal" answer from the dealership. I will post my results once I get it back from the dealership here in Roseville, CA.
Thanks

Ya know.... some sounds seem annoying because you listen for them. The a/c cycling on and off is normal. If you stop focusing on it, eventually you will not notice it or it will just be background noise.....
New car, new sounds, you're still getting used to it. Every mustang has that sound just like every Nissan frontier has an annoying whistle on the roofrack above 35 mph. I notice but noone else seems to notice/care.

I also have the clicking noise with a/c on. I find it so loud and annoying I could cry. In fact I could swear I even feel it (like a negative surge). And if you watch the engine, when it clicks, you can see the a/c line buck. Obviously this is the compressor bucking and moving the line. If anyone gets ford to confess to a problem (or finds a better compressor to use) please post it.

More annoying is that it does it even faster when you have the heat on full blast... (hot/cold is just "mixed" to make "warm", so it thinks you need a little cold around just in case...)
Don't get much use for A/C around here in a convertible, but the heat comes in handy - some passengers are more purist about the convertible experience than others. Driving around with the top down at night in 45-50F weather it is nice to cook the blood in your feet so that the cooling of the blood in your head is offset to prevent hypothermia.
It is on my winter hacking list to find a way to turn it all the way off. At least only on in the "AC" and "Max AC" settings... everything else wants hot in my case...
