Default Effects of 3.73 Gears

Okay dealer has to change out gears due to a problem - they offered to put it whatever I brought them !!
3.31 v6 auto right now.

Should I go with 3.73 or 3.55?????

My concern is gas milage with the 3.73s. How much difference is there in the gas mileage.

My daily communute is about 20 miles city / mild rural and 20 miles highway.
How much higher will the 3.73s shift my RPMs at 65 mph?

Thanks for any responses. I have to call the dealer back today

Yes I am doing a t-lok while I am at it

Definitely 3.73 or better - sounds like you have a great dealer - it will be covered by warranty too i think.

The mpg difference is not that big - well worth it for the gears! Good luck.

what year v6 do you have? if you have a 99-04, you have 3.27s. and screw the 3.73's, get the 4.10s!

edit: wait nvm i just realized im in the 2005 forums. forgot about that

but either way, go 4.10's

My 3.73's dropped my mpg by about 1mpg, You won't feel a difference withthe 3.55s. If your gonna do it go at least 3.73

kinda depends on what future tuning its gonna recieve. if you're going s/c or turbo, 3.55 no. 3.73 would be good. if you're planning on staying naturally aspirated, go 3.73 or higher. the 4.10's will definately improve you 60 ft time. but if gas mileage is a concern, it would drop it. not much, but over time it adds up. and if you're not planning on hitting the quarter, itd be worth it to get the 3.73. all round good ratios. but dont get 3.55's. just no fun.
