Newer Mustangs are somewhat difficult to steal due to the PATS system. Towing it off is hard to defend against. Now a Fox Body, someone with only a large screwdriver can break in and break the ignition lock to crank the car.
Yea, I rather think that unless you have some pro car thieves operating in your area that mainly the thing I'd worry about (with a new mustang) is break-ins, stolen parts, and vandalism (which seems to be the most common on the S197's). But I think the odds of the vehicle going completely missing are pretty slim, unless you leave the keys in it or the thief gets a hold of a set of keys.

Of course, all that may still not come as much comfort, but I say a messed up new mustang is better than a missing new mustang.......unless your insured for that.

Juntech,
You can set this system up to alert you in various ways. When mine goes off, it sends E Mails to my work address, home address, and sends a text message to my cellphone. And it IS IMMEDIATELY!! It will alert you if the battery is disconnected as well.

I hear ya on the kill switch, but unfortunately, it will not allow you to kill if the car in running. You can trigger the kill, and if the car is turned off, it will not restart.

Last week, when I picked up my son at school, I had the windows down, and set the alarm. He walked out to the car, stuck his arm through the open window, and triggered the alarm. My cellphone was ringing before I could get in the car......Also, in the past, I could tell when the dealer was working on the car, as the alarm to my cellphone triggered as soon as they disconnected the battery. It's also great to set the speed trap to about 30 MPH or so, when the car is being serviced.....

When you track your car online, it is triangulated via multiple satellites, and it is highly accurate. I have tracked mine while parked at work, and it narrows down the location within feet.......It's a great system that I hope I never have to use!!

Great info, and thanks. I guess it's pretty safe to buy a mustang in Lawrence Massachusetts. [&:] ...maybe.
