Default tire recommendations?

I'm picking up my OEM 18" bullit rims w/ the mustang logo center cap tomorrow. Does anybody have any good tire suggestions for 245/40/18. And, should the rear tires be like 255/40/18 and the fronts 245/40 ? I'm looking now, theres just to many to pick from... opinions please on a good multiseasonal tire thats not to loud and handles well with good reliability.

That's an odd size your looking for. If you don't want to throw your speedo off, you want 255/45-18 in the rear. The front is up to you but if you want your tires to last then you want to be able to rotate them, so you should prob stick w/ same size all around.

Your wants in a tire pretty much describe the stock Pirelli's. They're better than you might think. Other good choices are BFG Gforce T/A KDWS (or KDW if you're not dealing w/snow), Goodyear F1 , and as always, Michelin Pilots (if you got the cash).

255/4518 is the smallest and largest I would put on the 8.5" width rim. You could squeeze a 275/40r18 on the rear, but not really recommened for a 8.5".

if your spending money to buy another set of wheels, go for 9" or larger imo.

Crunch the numbers using your current size, and decide what you want, plus or minus size etc. Here you go.....
