Default Info on Falken Azenis RT-615 tires?

I'm still browsing tire choices for my new wheels.

I noticed that the Falken Azenis RT-615 tire is available in a 295/40 R18, which would be a PERFECT fit on my wide rear wheels, and it would have a very similar diameter to stock. Plus, these tires look great in my opinion.

However, I haven't found much information about these tires. They are advertised as a "track tire" and "street racing tire" but most of the reviews that I've read, while good, are on imports. Any thoughts on this tire?

the Azenis RT-615 is a good DOT legal drift/autocross tire. It has a good amount of bite combined with a stiff sidewall for road racing performance. It also works great the hotter it gets. It dies comprimise though in the treadwear department. We sell alot of them, and have had great reviews on the performance of the tire, not so great on the life of it. If you are looking to get into some VERY spirited driving or even autocross/track action..go witht this tire. If you want good life and just cruising performance..then go with something like the Falken FK-451 of FK-452

3 tenths in diameter is not bad. (Actually, my numbers are 27.1 for my stock Pirellis, and 27.3 for the Falken, so it might only be 2 tenths)

How do the RT-615s grip off the line and in the corners? I'm assuming they must be pretty good if they're being used for autocross.

Also, what kind of tread life are we talking on the street?
I am meticulous in checking my air pressure and the majority of my driving will be on dry pavement.

As for the performance, I am not expecting to buy a 50,000 mile tire. I have driven cars with the super-long treadlife (hard as a rock) tires, and I'd prefer something with more grip. I am willing to get less mileage out of the tire. If I can get 2 years of solid performance out of this tire (no more than 25,000 miles with how much I drive) I'll be satisfied.

im not sure the exact mileage of the tire....

as far as off the line, like drag racing? the stiff sidewall may cause you some spin...its just part of the territory. Thats why you dont see Kumho V-710 slicks at a drag strip and Mikey Thompson ET radials at road atlanta.

If you want a good performance, DOT legal tire that can accomplish multiple goals for you, and you arent looking to get 30-50 thousand miles out of them..then I would definitely look into the RT-615.

what are you lookn for tires that will hook up and go with out spinning on the line.. if so then get some Nitto 555's those are my fav IMO. I have Falcons upfront and Nittos on the back couldn't ask for a better set up. especial when you want to race someone.. with Nitto's if they are going bald all you have to do is heat them up and they are ready for another race. the only draw back is they are a dry condition tire only. They dont' get very good traction on water, but its ok if your not crazy like me and dont' payattention what your doing. theres my 2 cents for ya.
