Default BUSTED *siren*

Well here is the story, First off I am 17 years old. I live just out of napa up in the mountains by a lake (long windy roads). well I decided to speed it up a bit on these roads, I was just having fun with the windows down and music up (hard rock)

I was not being unsafe, I stayed in my lane, no screeching, no crazy s@!$.

But anyway I am cliping along at a prty good pace, thinking to myself "wow these new yakahommas handle great" then this RSX type R pulls up on me and he is trying to race. I wasn't raceing him, he just couldnt keep up, so I start to let off a little and I keep cliping along at a prty good pace, I start to slow down because I am geting In to a area were there is some people (trying to be safe) This is when I see the Light... No not that one, the flashing red an blue one. so I pull over nice and easy and wait.

The officer strolls up to my window and takes his shades off (OK this is classic)... here is the dialog: O=officer

O: how's it going?
me: Ok, and you?
O: fine, were you looking at the speed'O?
me: No sir
O: "Did you know it took me 3 miles to catch up to you?"
me: (OH $i^T) Umm. noo officer
O: Licence and registration please

At this point this dude is being prty nice allthings considered

O: well I clocked you at 70MPH, on that one straight line, It is a 55, but this is a two lane mountain road.
me: Sorry about that officer.
O: "you know I could get you for Reakless driving and exibition of speed, and not haveing registation?"
me: *Silence*
O: Is this your first time being pulled over?
Me: yes sir
O: DO you always drive like that?
me: no sir (I don't)
O: this is a nice car, I car see myself in it, and It obviosly has some good power after what I just saw. Is this all yours son?
me: yes sir, thank you
O: Well I don't think this is what your dad had in mind when you got this car do you?
me: no your right.
O: Ok this is a regular speeding ticket, for 15MPH over the limit on a highway. and I didnt cite you for your registation just make sure you keep it in the car.
me: (this is were is surprised myself) thank you sir
O: thankyou for being so polite, I don't get that every day
Me: have a good one
O: you too

Generally cops are just like real humans.....treat them with the respect they have earned,(and they have earned it), and 9 times out of 10 you will be treated with respect as well. Sometimes you will even be cut some slack.

Good Luck and be Careful!!

I've always been super-nice to cops when I get pulled over and not one has ever cut me any slack. I haven't been pulled over much, in 30 years of driving I think I've been pulled over 4 or 5 times. And got a ticket each time. [:@] I think what I need is a huge pair of *****, one of the girls at work was just talking about how she got out of a DWI with a few loose buttons!

Officer Murphy Slaughter, Kalamazoo MI PD.

***** busted me two times in one year in my Festiva. Complete a**. Did not care what I had to say except for "Here is my license"
Busted my then future wife and ex wife too. Blonde hair, ample, um assets and even crying was no help for her.

Kalamazoo Sheriff busted me for a headlight. deputy tried his darndest to talk me into a DUI, even though I was stone cold sober.

OTOH, there are some real gems out there. On my way to my grandma's deathbed, I got stopped by the Michigan State Police, who pulled a U-ey to catch me. IO pulled over immediately, because traffic was light, and there was a broad shoulder.

Where are you going?
hospital, death , etc.
*brother, who i didn't know was foillowing me, pulls over too*
Who is this?
My brother, going to the same place.
OK. Drive safely.

I think it depends on the department, and the circumstances. Showing deference can't hurt. Jerks won't change, but nice guys won't become jerks if you don't give them a reason. Enhance their calm and make them think they're in control: Deference, car shut off, hands on the wheel in plain sight, blah, blah, blah.

I think where you stop factors into this. My personal advice, and the cops here can weigh in on whether this matters, is pull over ASAP, but it is better to go a little farther with your flashers on and find a place that is safe for the cop to approach your car than to stop where the cop has to stand in traffic or approach on your passenger side because you left him no choice.

When I was 16 a had a Camaro SS, daddy didn't buy it for me, I worked my *** of for it and it felt good that I payed for everything insurance, mods, loans.....It really does make me sick when mommy and daddy buy you everything you want. To me having everything you want at your disposal wouldn't be fun. Fun for me is finally saving enough money to get another Mod, and getting really excited about it and feeling like I've accomplished something and I owe it to myself. To me that's how i get my kicks, and that's what makes me love my car.

BTW.....IT's Yokohama

Sounds like you're jealous not proud of what you say you accomplished.

Anyway, I find it hard to believe that ANY 16 year old could earn enough money to buy an SS Camaro and pay for their own mods, gas and insurance all on their own......If you did manage to pull this off, I guess you must not have been paying any rent or buying your own food or clothes or anything.

I'm 37 now and I bought a brand new SS Camaro in 2001. I work full time and make a decent living and I could barely afford it by myself.

16 year olds don't get paid that well, so I'm thinking that you are not telling us the whole story. Did you inherit some money? Did your parents pay for everything else in your life so you could **** your money away on a fancy car and convince yourself that you were mr wonderful?

What's the deal? Why do you feel like you have to criticize this young man because his father helped him get a car? All he was doing was sharing a story with us. For all you know, he pays rent at home and buys his own food and clothes.....maybe his parents are wealthy and just wanted to see their son have a nice car. Who cares?????
