The Nitto 555 is available in a 295/45 R18, but that looks quite a bit larger, at over 28" OD.
ORIGINAL: 06GT

Is it really the consensus that that a 35 series tire is the tire of choice on 18" rims, espescially the rear??

The reason I went with the 45 series is because the 35 and 40 series looked to small to me to. The Nitto555 295/45/18 look real good on the rear, and fills up the wheelwell nicely. Theres also enough room with the tires that i'm still gonna drop the car 1" - 1 1/2"s.

My car running the 295/45/18's on the rear and 255/45/18's in front.

I wouldent say it is their fault entirly. The lugs are their problem. But I have heard enough about them to be leary.

First off I always read return policies as it usually says alot about companies attitude. I rarely encounter a "nice" company to deal with that has a bad return policy. Secondly, I am always hesitant to order rims and tires mounted and ballanced from one source unless they are factory. I usually want to see the rims in person to check them out and see fit and finish before tires are mounted.

Also, you should have researched tire sizes a bit more and ordered the correct tire from an outfit like tire rack.

Think about it this way, stores are entitled to have their own return policy. Most people you speak to when you call are nothing more than button pushing phone sales people that know minimal about cars.

If summit racing had a horrible return policy (which they dont, its great) and I called them up and ordered chevy 350 headers for my mopar 440. How is it their problem??

It is usually the uneducated consumer that has problems. I make it my job to know more than the person on the other end of the phone, because you never know, he could be an a-hole.

Yes, I agree with you on that. I knew they wouldn't take the tires back, that's why I didn't ask them to. I only asked for replacement lug nuts, but I let them know I was disappointed with the tires. I think thats when the guy started talking overtop of me, and consequently was no longer listening to what I had to say. Of course this was after they told me I had to pay shipping for the replacement lug nuts, as even that "wasn't their fault". I trusted them as a Mustang specialist, mistakenly. There were no size options to choose from- this is what they recommended.

From TireRack, on the other hand, I've ordered 3 or 4 sets of rims and tires and found them to be exemplary in every manner. They even maintain an advice forum on the MINI Cooper site where I spend most of my car-time online. They are the absolute gold standard in online retailers, IMO.

Now, here are the obligatory pics of the 'stuff'. The rims are impressive, I'll give them that. You'll see what I mean about the tire size, though. Keep in mind the car is already lowered- that's not even oem ride height! The lugs, on the left are metric stamped 12x1.5, on the right Imperial stamped 1/2-20.

Customer NON-service. This attitude is typical of businesses who hire punks to answer phones. I found them to be slow, unfriendly, and unapologetic. When I ordered my wheels and the center caps were different on the front wheels than the back wheels. I called to inquire as to why the change and how this could be rectified. I was treated like I was trying to steal from them. There's plenty of other places to buy the same stuff.

Default UPDATED: MustangTuning.com resolves issue

Yea tire rack is really top knotch. I have gotten a few sets for other cars from them myself. They are just great to deal with and their prices keep the locals in check as well. I get firestone/bridgestone tires wholesale from a local firestone dealer. Tire rack is sometimes a tad cheaper than the wholesale price and are hard to beat. In those cases they will sometimes match tire racks price or cut me a break on the mounting.

They are nice wheels though but other places have them as well. I am thinking of getting a set of painted ones for the winter.

Mustang Tuning is the worst company I have ever dealt with. They ripped me off when I ordered rims from them earlier this year...they sent the wrong size rims and would not accept that it was their error....I am out over $600 for shipping(to Hawaii) and I will NEVER use them again....they are a ripoff joint that should go out of business.[:@][>:][:'(]

I ordered a set of rims from them a couple of weeks ago. I was very pleased with the rims and the lug nuts. I did not use their tires, went to tire rack and ordered Pirellis instead. My only complaint I had with Mustang Tunning is that I had paid $400 extra to have the rims 3day expressed shipped, the rims were not even shipped until 4 days after the order and didn't get to me until 8 days after the order was placed. I called them at least 5 times trying to get a tracking number but no one could give me any info. IMO I will not be doing business with them again. They are the first aftermarket company I have ever had issues with on any of my vehicles. BTW I ordered my tires 3days after the rims and recieved the before the rims, I did not even use express shipping.

I feel for you, if I spent 1600 and didn't get what I wanted I'd be upset as well.

That said, recommendations are just that, recommendations. You don't have to buy the size they recommend, you could research and find what look you preferred. The fact that they dont look right does not make it MustangTunings fault.

Now you have everything on this board reading a title that says "Dont buy from MustingTuning", even if they don't read the thread their impression of this vendor is that they are not reputable.

You have hurt the reputation of a vendor all over a pair of missized lug nuts and the fact that your rims/tires dont "look" the way you want?!?!.

I'm sorry but please cry somewhere else next time.

If they sent you the wrong rims/tires and refused to take them back, or sent you tires that wouldn't fit your rims, that would be more understandable...
