RE: TYPICAL MPH / 2ND GEAR ????
I wanted the info for comparison purposes, as it seems to me, 5300RPM is about 70% of what I call the "powerband". I've held it there for about 5 seconds (63MPH), floor it and slam 3rd at red line, and it makes the sweetest tire chirp @ 73MPH. NO SH**
I think my car is normal, but, maybe I gotta freak motor or something. When my buddy rode in it, after about 10 mins, he accused me of "moding" it before it came off the lot. He said "no way is this a bone stock car". Another mechanic friend said he remembers back in the "heyday" that once in a while a car would be much faster than other identical cars, for reasons unknown.
Now, don't everyone start blastin me like I'm off my rocker (thats a given) but, I think there's something a little different/special about my GT.

Just as a note, mods won't affect RPMs at a given speed unless you changed the trans, the gears in the trans or the rearend gears. MPH is a factor of engine RPM, trans gear ratio, rearend gear ratio and tire size, nothing else effects RPM (except for torque convetors for autos).

I can get mine to chirp in 3rd on some surfaces but it takes a very fast shift and borderline redlining it. Some roads just stick better then others around me. I have only done it 3 or so times. I dont like being to hard on her.

Automatic with apparently a good tune chirps 2nd every time and 3rd every couple - 3 times. Speed through geers are lower because of the 3.73. I I'll try it out tomorrw and let you know (if it stops raining).
