OK, you've accepted teh verbal bashing you deserved. I admire your ability to accept fault for your actions. Go in with a very humble attitude and try to get the charges reduced. Maybe an offer to traffic school might help. Best to consult legal advice from a lawyer (that's why they go to school and get paid so much/hr). As stated before. Good luck and maintain a positive attitude.
+1 on the Defensive Driving class and offer to do a little community service in lieu of the 3 points. All they can say is no.

I think if you go in there with your hat in your hand and tell the judge you've learned your lesson, say you're sorry and all, they might cut you a little slack.

Tell them it's your first time driving a stick and that you still suck at it.

If you have an auto, you're on your own.

^^^^^^^^ BWAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHA......That's a good one thank's for the idea [sm=thanx.gif]

I was pulled over last week because a cop thought my tail light blackouts we're illegal because he said he couldn't see my lights.

Me. Officer It's daytime, I don't have running lights.
Him. Well i didn't see brake lights either.
Me. Okay, stand at the back i'll show you.
Him. okay son show me
Me. You can see them cant you
Him. Yes sir, but i still dont think that's legal.
Me. Pulling out a paper of the codes and law book and pointing to the part that say their not illegal as long as they let a certain percentage of light through and are clearly visible in daylight
Him. Wow, you did some research
Me. Yes sir im prepared for this situation.
Him. Good job son, sorry for the trouble, have a great day

In short, If you treat them nice and maybe have a little proof to beat them at their game everyonce and a while everything should turn out fine

Don't you hate when you ask for some advice and everyone wants to give you some high-and-mighty lecture about how irresponsible you are?

I agree, it's a lame *** ticket, but you did get nailed. I wouldn't reccommend going for a 'not guilty' plea unless you have a lawyer or something. Judges don't like people (especially younger ppl) trying to pull any fancy stuff in court and they will slap that s*** down if you try.

Just to throw it out there, I had a "no registration" ticket (stupid, I know), and the fine was dropped after i showed up to court and plead guilty. Your situation is a little different, though. Anyway good luck.
+1 Anytime someone gets a ticket for speeding or similar traffic offenses, everyone jumps on their high horse to berate you about your lack of experience and how speeding endangers their family's lives, clubs baby seals in Canada, and funds terrorists. Quit being driving snobs. I hardly feel that driving for 5 years makes you a driving noobie, and if anything your reaction time is the fastest it will ever be. Just because you've had a liscense for longer than me doesn't give you the right or authority to claim superiority by experience.

I would take it to court. I dont know how I would plead. But I would be honest. Face it, the cop and the judge knows why you, I, and every other person has a mustang gt and has no reason to doubt that you would do such a thing. They probably did such things when young. I am 23 BTW.

Anyway, I would say to the judge, your honor, yes, I was having a little fun with my car on a nice day, all I can do is sincerely appoligize, state the fact that at no time was I above the speed limit nor did I endanger the public in any way. And I was in complete control of the automobile at all times.

Act like an honest guy. Respectfully request reduced points, and pay the fine. Maybe, offer to go to defensive driving school.

I mean you could make a stand on the premise that it wasent careless driving, only excessive acceleration. You might get that changed. But either are no picnic.

That was an ill-conceived post. I was really just trying to stick up for the kid who got the ticket. Not young people are bad drivers, just the majority, which is the reason behind high insurance rates for young people. Probably one of the best drivers i know is only 25 years old. The fact of the matter is that i know many more people who are >40 that like to chirp tires, burn rubber at stoplights, drive fast because they have enough money to do so and can pay for tickets, etc. You think most people that are older have just as good a reaction time as 15-30 year olds, probably not, but no one jumps on them.
The people that you should be worrying about on the roads are the old people, stoned people and drunk drivers, because i'v almost been hit by them way more than by some normal guy screeching tires in his mustang. Theres my $.02

Oh and about being a narcissist, somebody's got to have a high-self esteem these days [8D]

Hey man, I feel you on getting "unfair" tickets. It sucks. I hope things work out for you. I'd probably go with the above posts and suggest trying to be as polite and humble as you can be. I mean, don't let it get to the point where you're more or less suckin their dicks, but you know what I mean. (You gotta have a little self respect. :P)

Moving on..

Let it be known that I'm 18 year old driver. I've only been driving for 2 years. There are plenty of drivers that have more experience than me. That means that there are some drivers out there who will, without a doubt, react better than me in the majority of driving situations. But in my opinion, while experience definately plays a role, it is more important that a driver pay attention to how they drive. All the experience in the world won't help if you don't pay attention to the road, are distracted, or otherwise impaired. Experience can only be applied to a given situation correctly if the driver is actively engaged.

I see potential crash situations, more or less, as tests. The years of experience are, to me, years of studying for that test. You can study for decades, but if you fall asleep during the test, read the questions wrong, or are simply being careless, it doesn't matter how much studying you have done. You will still fail. On the same token, if you are competent (or perhaps some would argue, lucky) enough, you can study for only a few months, and still pass the test.

Experience is a factor, but in the end it's what you do that makes you a good driver, not how long you have been driving.

i think if he came out of nowhere like you said, he prolly didnt really hear you break the tires loose, so you probably have a chance in court. but like other people said be respectful.

he was a few cars back my buddy in the svt focus was on my *** so i couldnt see him through any mirrors, although on the positive end, he saw the cop, tried calling me and made damn sure he drove extremely slow and blocked any view of me he could. So when i told the cop i didnt break the speed limit or anything, all he said was that he heard my tires. I dont even think it would show up on camera, just the *** of the focus would be in his view. I am going to wait till the end of the ticket though to tell them i want to fight it this way it can give me some time to save the cash for it since 95% of what i make goes to paying off this awsome car, im usually left with about $50 at the end of the month, talk about not bein able to afford it let alone any ticket lol
