What are you paying for your 2007 Shelby GT500?

ORIGINAL: Tres Wright
They've done a lot more to the Shelby than just toss a big motor in it, don't sell it short. Sure the vette or a beemer might be more sophisticated, but the Shelby is not in that price range. It is being artificially inflated into that range temporarily, but that's to be expected since it's new. Do you know how much Z06s went for the first few months they were available? It was even more of a feeding frenzy than the Shelby.

When they get done making them in 5 years there will be about 40,000 GT500s in the US; that is not a rare car... Today there are 2006 Z06s sitting on the lots of dealerships... And used ones are starting to show up and going for much less... This story has repeated itself so many times in the past that it defies logic that anyone would be so dumb as to pay one penny over MSRP...
You will be able to get one in 12 months for 1K over invoice and if you are really patient invoice...

Exactly...
Same BS happened when the GTO first came out (the second time around, not in the 60s)... now look at'em (and the ones out today are better than the ones when they first were re-introduced.)

I could justifiy the rush if there was actually a rush to buy the car.. like if it was numbered or something, of course you want to get as low of a number as possible but damn... it will still be the same car in 9 months from now, why bother to pay that outrageous amount for a car that wont change?
