Best Single Performance Modification?

Cold air intake and retune.
Cold air intake and retune.
Forgive me for asking a question that has been discussed elsewhere in this forum, but I am not getting much from searching. What is the best/recommended CAI and tune package available for the Stang?
The most popular CAIs seem to be the JLT and the C&L. Other popular ones are the K&N, Steeda, and so on.
You can read a magazine review about several of them here:

...basically, all the standard ones are pretty similar. Some of them will claim that you don't need to tune, but practically speaking that is not so. To get your best bang for the buck, do both the CAI and Tune.
There are two popular tuners: The Diablosport Predator and the SCT-II. They both do the same thing. I would buy whichever one your tuning shop uses. Popular tuning shops include Brenspeed, Bamachips, and Evolution (look at the forum sponsors list for these and more).
Whenever you buy the combo you're not just buying the physical parts, you're getting the tuning expertise from the shop as well. Personally, I recommend Brenspeed. The C&L CAI + SCT-II tuner kit is very reasonably priced and Brent has some great tunes.

I've only put on one bolt-on, and I chose a cold air intake and tune. It really woke my car up. When people say it's like driving a completely different car with a CAI and tune, they are not kidding.
I went with the JLT2 CAI and Evolution Tune. Most people on here seem to prefer the Brenspeed tune, but they are both great products. It'll cost you about 550 for both the CAI and tuner (Plus shipping.).

The bad thing about just getting gears then you need to get a tune to correct the speedo.

You damn right I look at my speedo. I would rather be putting my extra money to Mods. rather than into the insurance companies pocket been there done that.

I just switched over from the Steeda CAI to a JLT CAI. I met Jay the owner of JLT when I was getting my car dyno tuned when he found out I switched from Steeda he went back to his shop across the street and gave me a JLT t-shirt. I highly recomend his CAI . http://www.jlttruecoldair.com/produc...year=2005-2006
