I got everyone confused, I posted two separate threads back to back, GT500 wreck which had a link to A video and A Double Fatality,WITH TWO YOUNG GUYS IN A 2001 Mustang.

EXCERPT FROM THE LAWRENCE JOURNAL WORLD on the double fatality:

Two 21-year-old Tonganoxie men died early Friday when their car collided with a semitrailer near 21st and Iowa streets.

Killed were Jacob Wyrick, driver of the 2001 Ford Mustang, and passenger Benjamin Pickert.

Police said the young men were headed south on Iowa Street when they collided shortly before 2 a.m. with a semitrailer driven by 58-year-old Paul Labourdette of Quebec, Canada. The wreck happened during heavy rains.

Police said Labourdette was heading north but had stopped in the street when he saw the Mustang spinning out of control, coming toward him.

“He was doing everything he could to avoid the accident,” Lawrence Police Department spokeswoman Kim Murphree said. “The car was spinning. It spun into and hit the tractor-trailer.”

Both Wyrick and Pickert were pronounced dead at the scene. Murphree said speed, weather and alcohol would be investigated as possible contributing factors, but it was too early to say for certain which of those played a role.

As I understand it, Police now say Alcohol and excessive speed was a factor in the crash.

No, it was a coupe. You can see the rear pillar in the first pic. They must have cut the top off to get to the people.

Yeouch, that is painfull to look at. I feel for the families, but that's the price you pay for stupid decisions. I'm just glad no one else was hurt.

Retired...

I am a believer in Darwin myself...

Everyone knows the dangers of driving and drinking - - and driving crazy in the rain... Only Darwin Canidates drive drunk in the rain with a performance car!

I feel for the Tractor Trailer driver... all he could do is sit there and wait for the impact. He will have dreams about that one for years.
