Default Conflicting Order Status

OK so I ordered my 2007 GT Mustang exactly 1 month ago. As of 8-14 the "ERL" tells me the order is still clean and unscheduled. I emailed the dealer and asked him about the status of my order. (Even though you guys tell me the dealer can't tell me anything.) I figured maybe he could at least get me a VIN number since all I have to go on is the order number.

He sends me an email back saying the car is scheduled to be built tomorrow. I was surprised so I called the ERL back thinking maybe it was updated at 1-800-962-3746 and she still tells me clean and unscheduled. Anyone have any opinions on this?

Also I thought the ERL had different messages before the car was built, you start out at Clean and Unscheduled then move to Serialized, Locked in Order, Build Scheduling, etc?

FWIW, the dealer hasn't BS'ed me around at all with this purchase. I am getting XPlan and trading in my old car. I have no reason not to trust them, but it does seem rather odd the ERL tells me one thing and my dealership tells me another.

For what it's worth I would trus the ERL over the dealer everytime.I have friends that work at the Flat Rock plant.I gave them my vin and order # and they gave me the build date. The dealer will only get the week of build date.So I get a call from a friend who said there was some quility issues with the doors and 600 car's were put in quarentine for repair. And he thought mine might be one of the many that were effected.Sure enough I called ERL and they told me it was in the lot with no ship date for quality issues and there was no ship date at all.So I called my dealer and explained this to him.I got a call back from the sales manager of the dealership assuring me everything was fine and mine wasn't effected.I let to day's pass from my original delivery date and found a car with the same options I ordered and bought it.(differant dealer) 6 WEEKS later the dealer called me and said my car was ready to be picked up.I laughed and said no thanks Iv'e been driving one for a month and a half already.Thank's for lying to me.

Thnx for your input. I am leaning towards the ERL info, although it seems to always be at least 2 days behind when I call. My dealer said he should give me a VIN tomorrow so maybe that will yield more useful information from the ERL instead of just an order number. Does it usually go from Clean/Unschedulted to a Build Week or are there steps in between?

The dealer can get up-to-date info on your car if they want to. Mine did and it was always just as the ERL said. What is your Priority Code? Should be a 10. IME you will be able to use your Order Number more effectively than the VIN. Never could get the ERL to accept my VIN. You should go through "Clean/Unscheduled" to "As of <date>, your vehicle is Scheduled to be built week of <date>" to "As of <date>, your vehicle is Locked in for production week of <date>" back to "Scheduled...." then "released" and finally "Shipped via ???". At some point there will also be "with an ETA of<date>" added into the ERL message. May be a couple of other steps in there but that's the basics.

Relax be paitent. I ordered mine on 6-19-2006 and it is still saying clean and unscheduled. Depending on options it could be awhile. If you want manual it is going to take longer.
