There will always be a percentage of idiots in any type of vehicle, to say you hate truck drivers because you had a run in with the small percentage is unfair. One could easily say that all people that drive Mustangs are idiots because of the same small percentage that drive like morons. You always remember the idiots, not the ones that are just minding the rules of the road. I am not saying what this driver was doing is right, but more than likely he was getting a run a the hill. To purposely slow the driver down was wrong and could have resulted in a serious accident, allthough him tailgating was worse if you were on a hill you would have slowly pulled away from him as he slowed down due to weight. Remember that truck drivers are usually running with 80000lbs total, not the easiest thing to slow down when cutoff or "brakechecked".

Yes, I drive a truck.
No, I am not defending this driver.
I am just informing, and stating my opinon.

There were three lanes (495 in MA). The right lane was flooded, so I couldn't move over without hydroplaning. Either way, I couldn't see the lines on the road with wipers on full speed and high beams on. There's no way he could have had any better visability. Some people are just insane and don't care about themselves or others.

I'm not attacking truck drivers as I run into cars doing this kind of thing more often, but this guy could have killed me.
Mass restricts trucks from the left lane, therefore the truckdriver has two lanes to work with, the right and the middle. I've been on I494 enough to know that it can get a little congested. If you know that truckdrivers are restricted from driving in the left lane, it would be courteous of you to move to the left long enough for him to pass. I can understand your situation, but also remember, if their is a car in the right lane, and your in the middle, you are in the fast lane for the trucks.

And as to your statement about the truckdriver couldn't have had any better visibility, yes he did. Remember, your in a tiny car sitting low to the ground, the truckdriver is in a very tall truck sitting alot higher up and can see traffic and road conditions way better than you could ever hope to see in your car.

I am sure most truck drivers are professionals and try to be safe as driving along with 80,000 pounds is a very serious responsibility... It is usually a few a--holes that give them a bad name, today I saw an 18 wheeler tail-gating a civic on I-95 in med traffic at 70+ mph, he must have been about 5 feet from the civics bumper, if that car had to stop suddenly there is no way the truck would be able to stop before killing everyone in that car... It is a reckless thing that he was doing that should never happen, if you cannot handle the responsibility of driving a large truck you should not be doing so...

Gravel trucks driving in he left lane dropping large gravel all over the road is another very dangerous thing that needs to be addressed, down here in Florida on the turnpike it is a major problem... I have seen some very bad accidents because of it...

OK I when I started this all I wanted to do is vent about one idiot. Well, It seems that I've offended a lot a people with some words that were not the best choice. Therefore I would like to offer a most sincere appology for giving some people the wrong impression.
First off I'd like to say that the work done by truckers is an important part of our infrastructure and our society could not function in it's present state without truck drivers.
The vast majority of truck drivers can drive better than the rest of us could ever hope too and majority of idiots on the road these days are driving mini-vans, SUV's, cars and not large trucks.
One thing I have noted as others here have pointed out is that some companies are reducing the wages that go to some truck drivers and there is now the odd one that is an idiot. Ten years ago you never saw this.
I had an issue with one truck driver in particular. Over the past few years similar things have occured with other truck drivers but I can tell you that these occurences are few and far between however I see people doing dumb and dangerous things with cars several times per day.
Again, I appologize if I gave anybody the impression that I thought all truck drivers are like this and it was NOT a reflection of my views. I was just ticked off, needed a place to vent and did it poorly. So maybe I am the idiot.
OK. I'm done now. Next time I need to vent I'll try to use a little more tact.
