RE: mustang tuning 18X9 bullitt offset help.
Yeah, the 285/40/18 will work great. It looks like you'll want 255/45/18 on the front, which are exactly the same height.
The KDW vs KDW2 thing has been a bit confusing, but I'm pretty sure now that I know what's up, and YES, we're looking at the "2nd generation" KDW. I think what's going on is that BFG doesn't call them "2", they just sell them as THE KDW even though they're the 2nd gen. TireRack.com puts a "2" on the name, and I think that's where everyone quotes KDW2 from. The secret is the tread pattern. Only the 2nd gen. has the crazy tread pattern...that seems to be consistent wherever I see the tire mentioned...and the BFG page we're looking at has the crazy tread pattern. (I figure I'll check one last time on this with whoever I order the tires from).
No need to thank me for being patient...I'm just trying to figure all this out like you are

I was actually leaning towards 275/40/18 for the fronts to go with 285/40/18 for the backs.
That puts me at stock height in the back and 0.3" shorter than stock in the front. (small stance)
That too aggressive?
I agree KDW "2" has a much more appealing tread design. That is the rubber I am looking for...

I have my 18x10s and 18x9 DD Bullitts all ready to go, i'll be ordering BFG KDW2's in 285/40/18 and 255/45/18 once my current wheels sell.
I can't wait to add them!!!

Larmo,
Looks wise, that will be fine. I just wonder about going so fat on the front. Might your low-speed turning performance (like on surface streets and in parking lots) be negatively impacted by having that much rubber in front? I don't know the answer.
In my case, I'm happy with the width in front both for looks and performance, so I'm looking to keep the width the same in front. I want the backs bigger both for looks and for that supercharger that I think might be in my car's future!
I looked again at the TireRack.com site. They list both KDW and KDW2, which is strange because you can only find one kind of KDW (ignoring KDWS) on the BFG site. Looking at TireRack.com's listings, their KDW listing definitely has more traditional tread, and their KDW2 listing has the crazy tread. If you go to the BFG site and look at the KDW listing, you see the crazy tread. So I'm pretty sure we're fine. Maybe TireRack.com still has some inventory of the older model.

Interesting... maybe I will adjust my thinking !!!
The basis for my original statement was based on the knowledge that the Saleens now come stock 275 all the way around, so if they come that way from the dealer wouldn't they know best? Maybe somebody here with fronts rubber bigger than 255 can chime in.
Thanks!

Hmm..timing's a little off for me. I just kinda/sorta made a deal with my local tire shop to get me the tires and put them on. I'd only be willing to back out now if the discount was quite significant. If you want to try right away, I'll hold off on going any further.
BTW, there's another tire place on the web that I checked out...DiscountTire.com. Their prices were just about the same as TireRack's. If TireRack won't budge, maybe those guys would. People like TireRack, but c'mon, tires are tires.

I understand. I'm about a week out in the buying process, so I would say go ahead and get them from your shop. I don't want to hold you back, especially since the discount would be minimal if any.
You'd better post links though !!!
