The cop didn't sound like a jackass to me. They can't let everyone go or else everyone would speed. Go to court and tell it to the judge just like you told it here and then you'll see a jackass!

I honestly was more pissed off that police officers have this time to waste when they can be doing something more productive. I've always felt this way not because of my ticket, but him being a jerk I really hope comes back to him in a more consequencial manner. I guess you could say Karma for being a jackass?

Recommend just pay the fine and drive on. NOt worth going to court and wasting time.

I just got pulled over about 30 minutes ago for doing a 76 in a 55 which I believed to have been a 70. I was not only in the right lane but being passed by other vehicles. I was a complete gentleman with the police officer telling him it was my first time in the area and I was unaware of the speed limit and was not paying attention to how fast I was going. I apologized he acted nice came back after I had given him my license and registration and said 76 in a 55 go to court and fight it or pay the $200 fine, have a great night.

Whatever I guess, no points on my license I can do the online course just sucks I have to pay a $200 fine...

+1 to go tell that story to the judge and find out who's a jackass. Sorry you got caught and got a ticket, but you pay to play. Fact of the matter is, you really had no good excuse to be breaking the law. Sure, he could have let you go with a warning, or there could be other reasons he didn't. I have had my share of getting caught, most of the time getting off with a warning. Only once, did I ever think the officer was out of line, and was justified when that ticket was thrown out in court for some policy violations.

If you should ever get a chance, go on a ride-along with an officer, or better yet, some para-medics, and then see if you can make that same observation about who is wasting time doing their jobs? Hint...it usually involves responding to someone who was "I was unaware of the speed limit and was not paying attention to how fast I was going" Not bashing...just food for thought

I thought this was going to be another one of those stories where people claim a cop pulls them over for something and ends up letting them off the hook because they liked their stang. Although most of those stories I don't believe. Cops just don't do that. They'd get fired for it if their chief new about it.

I find that if you just roll with the flow of traffic you are relitivly safe. Even though we are targeted for the type of car we are in. Though not as bad as a porsche or BMW as those cars seem to **** off police more than a nice down to earth musclecar.

I generally try to do no more than a little less than 70 in a 55 or 80 in a 65 which is about what the traffic is doing on a good day. But if I am not paying attention, it is really easy to 80 all day long in this car in fifth gear. Cruise control helps to keep me in check.

You can also argue (but I wouldent) that even though speeding is not safe, if traffic warrents, and driving at the limit means that cars pass you dangerously and kick up stones that damage your car, that it is safer to follow traffic at time.

Pay the fine, but if it were in NJ I would go to court to kill the points as the insurance rates are based on the points. And we get slaghtered for tickets. So if a ticket is 150 and 4 points, we might pay that plus 700-1000 extra a year in insurance rates.

I wasn't mad at the officer for doing his job at all, it was because I was in the right lane minding my own business and if he was really just doing his job why not pull over the guy in the left lane doing at least 85? I have nothing against him doing his job and this being my first ticket I would rather have a ticket a year and be able to go above the speed limit and that's what i'm at right now. It's just I honestly can't comprehend that I got a speeding ticket and don't even want to take out the stang now... Again i'm NOT mad about him doing his job just him picking me out of the right lane on the opposite side of the road, I don't even think he lasered me. I am taking responsibility for my action and am just going to pay the ticket and take the course.

Should of gone into 5th gear and lose him.

and if they managed to stop you can say "My gas pedal got stuck"

lol.... he could have said that, while five cops were pointing guns at him and the other three cops were dragging him out of car and slamming him to the ground. lol
