Default RE: Diesel?

There is nothing like the sound of a turbo on a diesel. My parents have a VW transporter (in the netherlands, it is called "eurovan" here in the us I think) with a 2.5 litre 5 cyl turbocharged diesel. And you hear the turbo every time you let off the gas, from factory. I've driven gas turbocharged cars and it is never as noticable.

The sound of a big turbocharged rig is awesome...

I have an 03 7.3L F250 with an 80hp BD chip. Makes unbelieveable thrust when you whack it. Will smoke the tires. I've seen guys with propane running high 11's low 10's launching in four wheel drive, then kicking it out once it's rolling. Bought a new 6.0L in 03. Had some buttkicking power, when it was running. Spent 45 days in the shop the first six months I owned it. The 6.0 diesel will go down in automotivce history as one of Fords biggest failures... Went to arbitration & Ford bought it back.

and to "Booster" I wouldn't trade my 03 diesel even up for an 07 gas motored truck. I haul a toy hauler from Ohio to Fl and back a couple times a year as well as other trips and I haven't seen a gas engine that could compare to the performance I get from my diesel.

What you heard was probably his muffler! There is a new muffler on the market for trucks called the Aero Turbine thats supposedly sounds like a turbine from a jet, not positive as I have not heard one for myself. I just traded my SRT-4 in on a 2006 Ram 2500 MegaCab Diesel 4x4. I have to say im impressed with the power and the mileage. Stock its 310hp and 610 TQ. Granted it weighs 7200lbs, but pulls pretty good considering. I bought a BullyDog programmer for it and you can download tunes right from Bullydog's website. One of them is called CrazyLarry and its insane! Supposedly it adds 230 horsepower and 450 foot pounds of TQ on top of stock! Not sure if it made that much power, but I do know it ran a 14.41@95 mph spinning all 4 tires at Byron raceway a few weeks back.

Pretty impressive for a 6 cyl.!

Nice times and numbers but Im pretty sure it wasnt the exhaust since he had straight pipes that were insanely deep and awesome sounding. Im actually still searching youtube and google and any other video sites I can find looking for a diesel that sounds like it lol
