Default 18' Drag Radials any good???

hi,

i have 18' wheels and i wanna go to track before they close down for winter and sure i need drag radials to get some good numbers..

my question is, do you guys think with BF good rich 245 or 265/40/18 drag radials am i still gonna spin or these drag radials will give me perfect traction? My car is bone stock 5-speed manual.. i have heard that with DRs to launch stock car is piece of cake.. which kind lof 60' numbers should i expect from 18' drag radials on my stock car?

Thanks..

The larger tire diameter will hurt you some due to less sidewall to absorb shock from the launch. On a stock car you should be OK, but once you add some power 18's are not going to cut it. BTW the tire pressure settings will low profile drag radials deos not follow conventional thinking. Most people will run around 15 psi in a 15 inch dr, but because of the width and profile on yours too low of a pressure will cause the tire to "cup" and not grip as well as it should. I run 20-21 psi cold in my 17' dr's and can pull 1.5-1.6 short times. I would use 22 psi as a starting point.
