Camaro and Mustang
ORIGINAL: bascho
GM's goal is always to outperform Ford in all performance aspects. For some reason Ford is ok with that and enjoys higher sales figures associated with their lower cost and mass appeal. GM's Camaro will probably be faster than the comparable Mustang stock for stock.......so what? Get over it. GM builds[i] BIGGER engines.....always have.......probably always will.
When I say Ford needs to "build a better car", I am not talking about changing a platform.....I am talking about changing the drivetrain. There is no doubt the 6.1L Hemi and the LS2 are BIGGER engines than anything Ford builds. Ford needs to build a BIGGER engine to really compete. FI is expensive and heavy........and no way Ford can get 400hp out of the 4.6 n/a within budget. The 5.0L Cammer is a 400hp n/a modular......but far too expensive for the production GT.
Something expensive is coming guys......you'll see.

btw....you shouldnt be so all inclusive...the P.O.S. Chevy 305 was hardly a better engine than a Ford 302...
better to compare a 4.6L with a 6.0L , eh ? Thats a fair comparison of which engine is "better" ?
Some of you have the Mustang sales model completely wrong. The Mustang is not a low buck high performance sports car that has a niche, it's a wildly popular mid-size car with a heritage that just happens to be available with a high performance package. The Mustang was not ever designed to compete with anything. GM hasn't figured out that equation yet. There's a reason that Camaros and Firebirds aren't sold now and a reason why that even if they are again, that they will still not compete for the lion's share of the Mustang market.
