Nitrous -- Pro/ Cons !?!
Can someone tell me how hard Nitrous is on the engine... I was thinking something smaller like a 50 shot maybe but don't know to much about running nitrous. What mods are good to have before running it so on and so forth? I'm curious to know how damaging it can be. You know what they say --
Nitrous is like a hot chic with an STD - We all wanna hit it but are scared of the consequences! [sm=gears.gif]

with a 50 shot it wouldn't be more than a tickle on the engine. I would recommend a 75 shot if you wanna be safe anything over you need a tune. I am currently running a 150 shot, no problems yet. Of course it is all in the tune and knowing well your transmission. I have missed shifts 2x and nothing has yet to happen, I do know that missing shifts on nitrious or excessive wheel spin is what specially get motors blown.

Nitrous is far and away the best bang for the buck when it comes to performance increases. Unfortunately, when something goes wrong using Nitrous, the results are usually quite severe. There are things you can do to mimize potential problems:
1. fuel pressure cut off switch
2. RPM window switch
3. WOT switch
4. Bottle warmer
5. Running a smaller shot
The biggest problem is that more power is only a jet away and people get greedy!
Nitrous containers also cannot be in the vehicle on a public street in some areas as it is a compressed gas (requires special transportation).
One of the vendors we deal with has a new kit that uses CO2 in a nitrous like delivery system but instead of being injected into the motor, it cools the intake charge. Every 10 F drop in intake temp on NA is 1 % increase in power and 2 % on forced induction applications. Not nearly the same power gain as NOS but very low risk and CO2 is cheap and safe.

Maybe if you are power shifting! If you lift your foot when you shift then how can nitrous cause a problem? All the kits i've seen spray at WOT only.

Fast Toys- Thanks! So what is a WOT switch? What is the RPM window switch? What does the fuel pressure cut off switch do with the NOS? The Co2 does sound a ton safer though.
