Quick ? about gear install at dealership....
I stopped by Hawk Ford the other day to pick up a couple small things for my car and decided to ask some questions about modifications on my car while still under warranty, we started talking about rear end gear swaps and he told me that if I had them installed at the dealership they would be covered 100% by my factory warranty. I just wanted to see if you guys think it's worth the extra money to have the piece of mind about the warranty coverage. I think the install will cost around 450.

Did they tell you it would only cost 450 for install or are you thinking that because of what other independent shops will charge?
I went through the same thing a while back. I had dealers saying if I bought the gears from them and they installed it it would be covered but they were quoting 800-1200 bucks for everything (gears, install shim kit, fluid, labor, recalibrating the speedo). Gears are only around 200 so if they only charge you 450 that would be pretty cheap from a dealer.

He said he wasn't sure but he thought it was around 450 for the install, he didnt say what the cost of the parts are though. I'll have to get the total cost before I make a decision.

Bring your car in for the tsb-06-12-11-axelmoan-groan issue and then ask what it will cost for them to slip the new gears in...then come back and tell us too!
