I purchased Dunlop Winter Sport M3 tires all around for winter in Colorado. Never drove the car with the stock tires in snow, so I can't compare these Dunlops to the stock tires.
I've gotten around two snow storms this winter already without a problem. I feel pretty good about these tires and being able to drive the GT all winter.

While you do need to take it easy, I had very few problems in the ice and snow last year. This Mustang does much better then my old 93 Mustang. You just take it easy on takeoff and stopping, it really is not bad. Any sudden moves may cost you, but again it is 10 times more stable than my old 93. My only fear is the other drivers who do not realize that you are driving a rather heavy, high torque, hockey skate. The thing that will get you as you have been driving a soccer dad truck, is the lack of ground clearance. You can forget snow of any significant depth.

In real deep snow you will have a problem. Even with 75lbs of sandbag in the back and TC off I got stuck in an unplowed parking lot. I was slowing down to make a rt turn because it was icy out. If I took the turn faster I probably wouldn't have gotten stuck.I shoved cardboard under the left rear tire and got myself unstuck. BTW I had the stock 16" wheels and tires on.

I have a 2006 V6 with 17" Bullit's and Pirelli P ZeroNero's 235/55's and they work GREAT in the rain. On snow its like walking barefoot on a hockey rink.
SO...... I got a set of dedicated snow tires / wheels from the guys at TireRack.com. Bridgestone Blizzak Revo's 215/65 on 16" steel rims. While the look isnt so great (think Mustang cop car), the tires are fantastic. We have had our first couple of snows here in Buffalo (not alot of snow, but that sort of greasy slimy light snow) and the Blizzaks are great.
I have heard from others who have similar experiences with them on ice and deep snow too. I'm almost looking forward to our first big snow. Just not the shoveling part.
