Brenspeed tunes

I was had by brenspeed when they told me they update the tunes which is completely false. Second of all my tune came in at 12.2 a/f ratio. Third of all if I had to pick again I would had gone with diablosport because with the diablosport you can richen/lean undefinitively. With the sct I can only rich/lean it up to 6%. If I want more adjustability I will have to pay extra for the pro-racer package. All this has gotten the best of me already, I feel like a ping pong, going from the dyno to see that a/f is bad asking for tune update, then receiving tunes then paying again for dyno to have it updated again etc etc. Not to mention since he only sells the CCMV plates from steeda because ford racing wont cut him a price on the FRPP ones because they are already too many ford racing dealers he sells the steeda's only and recommends against them when I have seen only gains thruout the whole rpm range with cars on them installed.

On the stock exhaust there is one bung in the front that does not have a cat in front of it that you can use to get clear readings. but its a pita to get to..
As far as your A/F ratio.. a 13.6 is not WAY too high.. Remember you are N/A not Forced induction.
A 12.5-13.3 is where most N/A make most power. 14.7 is stoich.
I don't know what the pinging issue is, but the engine does have knock sensors that should have at least pulled a little timing.
You should have hooked up a laptop to the xcal2 and datalogged the runs. This way you would have been able to see the maf flow, spark, and any knock.
And those that think Diablosport is actually good or even better then SCT.. HA HA HA HA.. Good Joke. You will be amazed at he number of people i know of that have dumped the diablos for SCT setups. My day at the dyno the 2 guys after me both had diablo tunes, and both were there to switch to sct. Both were running like crap with diablo and picked up huge gains just by going with a SCT tune.

I pulled a plug and it was sooo clean I didn't see any carbon on it at all. There was a slight brown color on the upper portion of the body but the electrode was soo clean I just couldn't determine whether it was running lean, rich or otherwise. I'm going to try and do some datalogging and see if I can get some idea of the A/F ratio with these tunes. I'm new to this stuff so it's going to be a learning experience.
I have to say the tunes have woken up the car but I really don't want to be running lean. I hope the SCT tuner will be able to give this info via datalogging. My other option is to get some dyno time in. Unfortunately for me there is no on in the immediate area who does this.

I just got back from the dyno run today and I will tell you right now it was not good!! I have read nothing but good things about Brenspeed and now I dont know what to think. After the dyno I was running a max HP of 236 and 265 TQ. He told me he could only go to 4800 RPMs because it started pinging!!!! The A/F ratio was an average of 13.6!!!!!!way too high. My car is stock with the exception of the CAI and brenspeed tune.
I am going to email Brent and would really like to just return the CAI/tuner but I know its not going to happen due to it says it on the receipt. My only option is probably to send him the dyno run and have him email me another tune. Only problem with this is I will have to pay another $180 each time I run the dyno.....I am soooo pissed. What a waste of money. I should have just went with the blower.
Local tuner told me he would sell a polished air/water cooler Vortex super charger to me for 4K. I would love to return my tuner since its not doing anything for my car but I know its not going to happen.
It was a mustang dynometer in Arizona about 70 degrees and I drove the car about 10 miles on the highway first

The last guy to bash a sponser on here got the whole thread bumped off here. There are alot of very happy Brenspeed customers, with no problems. Is it really fair to bring your car to a potential competitor to have him tell you the tune is bad from another place. Then have him sell you his tune, trust me not everybody knows how to tune these cars and run a dyno. I switched to Sct from Diablo, I can't even sell the Diablo for 100.00 on e-bay no body wants it.

I AGREE!! the guy I originally had my bad dyno run at was a diabolo guy....he took the reading from the bung on the cat and said its too lean....( did not know this at the time ) but after talking with folks I was like duh? Cats remove fuel from the air...of course it would be leaner....the guy also claimed how great diabolo was, he never came out and downed SCT he just praised diabolo (HIS SPONSOR FOR HIS CAR) i then had a bung welded into the end of the header and had it re tested at a different guy, WHO BY THE WAY WAS ALSO A DIABOLO user but never stated anything one way or the other about either sct or diabolo. He ran the car and the A/F was perfect, the RWHP was almost 50 more as well as the torque....that tells me that number 1 guy was giving me the number 1 shafting.... no problem..I just know who not to trust...throgh this whole process BRent from Brenspeed has worked very close with me and always responded to me (albeit he still has a personal family emergency going on) he still doubted those numbers...also Fred from EVO was like the same way....we should not BASH either guy as if the tune was not right,.,.(it does happen on different vehicles from time to time) they will both work very hard with you to get it right....just call them and talk with them.....they are both SCT guys and diabolo guys are harder to find and the equip is pretty cheap on ebay....

VSOP - I live in the Poughkeepsie NY area.
I have been happy with my tune, but I would like to know that my air/fuel is on the money. Like I said I have no empirical evidence, at this point, that I'm running lean but it is a concern. I'm hoping my SCT tuner will help me figure that out. I'll try some datalogging this week and see if I can get a good read.
As an old time car guy I'm not used to messing with MAF and reflashing stuff. But I guess it's time I rolled up my sleeves and figured it out.
