Brenspeed tunes
I just got back from the dyno run today and I will tell you right now it was not good!! I have read nothing but good things about Brenspeed and now I dont know what to think. After the dyno I was running a max HP of 236 and 265 TQ. He told me he could only go to 4800 RPMs because it started pinging!!!! The A/F ratio was an average of 13.6!!!!!!way too high. My car is stock with the exception of the CAI and brenspeed tune.
I am going to email Brent and would really like to just return the CAI/tuner but I know its not going to happen due to it says it on the receipt. My only option is probably to send him the dyno run and have him email me another tune. Only problem with this is I will have to pay another $180 each time I run the dyno.....I am soooo pissed. What a waste of money. I should have just went with the blower.
Local tuner told me he would sell a polished air/water cooler Vortex super charger to me for 4K. I would love to return my tuner since its not doing anything for my car but I know its not going to happen.
It was a mustang dynometer in Arizona about 70 degrees and I drove the car about 10 miles on the highway first

something doesn't sound right. What CAI do you have and make sure it's installed correctly. Could you not here the pinging on the way there? I would think it would set a code if it's lean all the time.
What shop dyno'ed the car?

This is a very well known shop in North Scottsdale (SVC Motorsports). They are usually working on several mustangs when Im there.

Thats weird. He found my dyno run a bit lean too and quickly offered to richen the tune up a bit. He offered me to come back for a full dyno tune at a pretty good discount. I havent done that yet, because I live 3 hours away in Ohio.
Trust me, we all feel your pain. If you approach him with a hostile disposition, he may not be willing to work with you. Settle down, give him a call, remind him of your situation and ask him what your options are. He will work with you to resolve the issue.
Let us know how it works out for you

I am here to state....that I have both Evolutions tune and Brenspeed....Brent is an awesome guy. he will work with you if you approach it right....me coming off of having a bad dyno run on 12-4 to a great one yesterday make sure that the person doing the dyno does not have an alterior motive...as far as the tune pinging....I had issues with brents tunes also, BUT he worked with me and IS currently working with me to fix...as far as your A/F ratio??where did he take it from....If you take from anywhere after or in the cats it will be lean...the only way to get a TRUE A/F ratio is to get it from before the cats (have to weld a bung to the header) otherwise it will be lean....call Brent, he will work with you

I've got a Brenspeed SCT tune and am quite pleased with it and Brent is always to take time with me. I am going to buy a wideband a/f meter, probably a PLXdevices.com as I had one on my turbo Talon. Brent said the AFR should be 12.8 to a 13.2 but to start out rich and try to work to the 13.x. I cannot hear knock and would love having something that would read the o2 voltages so I could use those and the wideband to do some tuning. I thought the SCT was supposed to log some info? I even sent my SCT back for Brent to change a tune from 91 octane to 100 octane because I am not computer literate. Mark
Well he took a bung reading before the cats. Im sure Brent is an awesome guy. I know alot of people have worked with him. Unfortunately I have only communicated by email to this point, so I think I will give him a call this Monday. Only good news to this point is I got the Ford Racing GT exhaust comming next week for X-mas, so I was hoping to resolve this by then. Will I need a retune with an exhaust?
Has anyone sent there tunes back to Brent? Does he email new tunes or do I have to send the tuner back?

he will email tunes....what bung is before the cats....the only bung i was aware of in stock and or aftermarket was either in the cats or after..did you have one welded in? yeah the racing gt exhaust is sweet....only will need a retune if you are removing the cats or if they are high flow...or if you are also changing to headers....basically....you should also pose that to Brent...if you are just getting the axelback...no tune necessary...if you are getting the whole enchilada....tune is reccommended and in 20% of cars necessary as the o2 sensors soemtimes will throw a code on a high flow cat due to they do not recognize the sensor...good luck...I do know that Brent does have a personal emergency he is taking care of with his family so he may not be back in to mid next week..be patient (I know that is hard, trust me) he will fix it...
