I am going with American Racing headers, i've seen the most gains from them and are a high quality brand. If you are going to be adding a blower make sure you go with a 1 3/4 setup, instead of the 1 5/8 that Kooks offers.

RE: Long Tube Headers
Well, "rated" is also a bit of a misnomer.
For example, many sources say that the stock exhaust on our cars is "good to 500 HP". Well what exactly does that mean? Does that mean that 499 is "OK", but 501 it's instantly "bad"? Of course not. Like most things it's a gradient--and what people consider to be a worthwhile gain for the price varies from person to person. For example, despite the often-quoted claim of "good to 500", we can see a jump of about 20 HP on average from adding longtubes to an engine with very minor bolt-ons....and some of us buy them and some of us don't.
From the dyno runs I've seen, on a lightly modded engine (CAI and CMCP delete, but otherwise no engine-related mods), the 1 5/8 and 1 3/4 headers perform the same...if there was a performance difference, it wasn't apparent on the Dnyo.
On the other hand, on a car with more mods, the 1 3/4 have a slight advantage. I have seen this on a car with a Procharger and again on an N/A car with ported heads. In these cases, the 1 3/4 had a slight advantage. It was about 5 HP on the car with the heads, and I don't remember the gain on the Procharger car. I think it was also about 5.
Personally I think the 1 3/4 are the better choice becasue there's no disadvantage to them, but they do have a benefit if you decide to go with some more serious mods later on. Granted it's not a huge benefit, but why not go for it? There's no disadvantage and every HP counts.
I would definatley buy the 1 3/4, especially if I was going to get a Blower. Does that mean that if I already had 1 5/8 would I ditch those and upgrade? No. But I still think that the 1 3/4 are the better choice.

RE: Long Tube Headers
All the brands mentioned have great build quality and performance but are pricey. If you want a really great performer that doesn't cost a bundle, check out the Macs. We offer discount pricing on them to Mustang forum members as well. Just email us for pricing as we cannot publish it.

RE: Long Tube Headers
Well if you check my Sig you will see I'm all for the American Racing Headers.
My shop did the install in under 4 hours for the LTs and X pipe.
I would not waste my Money on the MACs or any other non SS header

All that work for 25 horsepower? They are sexy though. 5 hours times 80, that's like 400 dollars for installation?
