I have about ten coats on her now... i started with the clay bar then went to a swirl and scratch remover then did the zaino times two for a good polish and then applied a caranuba wax and have about ten coats of that on now and it gets deeper and wetter everytime i apply it i usually wait about a day or so inbetween waxes but they say just dont apply more than three coats a day on the particular wax i use... if you want a quality all purpose long lasting wax go with Megs NXT wax it works amazing

why are all "waxing" threads the same? everybody's an expert....and "my" product is clearly the best...clearly better than yours...blah blah blah.

And no, it is not incorrect to refer to the clearcoat as paint. It just happens to not have any pigmentation. A technical distinction can be made, butc'mon man. The are not"Mustangs," either; they are "Mustang brand automobiles from Ford." Pointing out a meaningless distinction does not make you a genius. Sure, some prducts are better than others, ever so slightly, but in skilled hands and with the right applicators, polishing compound, glaze, and carnauba wax can make a car look just as good as skilled hands with Zaino or product xxx....

It's the finish that is madea mile deep, not theinfinite smal coating of protectant that goes on top of it.

Nice post i like it.

And to RUFDRAFT your car does look great and shine very well. However this is from all the Polishing you do NOT from waxing it. And a polish gives you ZERO protection And you sir are incorrect when you say Clay Bar does not remove wax and i do not recall anyone ever saying the car was waxed at the factory. So lets say you have some wax on top of your contaminants how will the clay remove the contaminants through the wax if it doesn't remove wax???.

+1 to the NXT. I've used just about everything on the shelf. TW ICE works very well, you can put it on just about any part of the car, and you can use it in the sun or when the paint is hot. This comes in useful if you don't have shade, a garage, or you are at a car show. The guy who said it streaked alot probably did not use a microfiber towel to remove it. Unfortunately you need to use a MF towel to remove or it will streak, also, it does take some more elbow grease to get it off than NXT. I have also found that the TW ICE detailer is the best out there.

However the utmost shine off the shelf is with NXT and it's very easy to apply and remove. I give NXT as gifts to my friends who get new cars. My sig pic is with the NXT.

Consumer reports ranked Black Magic the best and I posted their results on this forum, try doing a search. I have it my garage. It does last a long time but I've found that it's a little hard to get off and I don't think the shine is quite as good as NXT. That's just my take.

BTW, polish and wax are now interchangable terms. There were days where a polish was really a microfinishing compound, no longer with todays delicate clearcoats. According to Consumer Reports manufacturers put whatever name on their product they want, but they are both the same, they both are paint polishers and protectors.

So you're using just NXT wax after the wash and that's it? Or are you polishing and all that fun stuff before putting on the NXT?

No "polishing", just washing and applying the NXT. I've had my car since March '05 and it has about 6200 miles on her. Always garaged or covered, never seen rain or snow and I've put about 30 coats of various waxes on her, most being NXT, secondly ICE. I've never used detergent or a clay bar to remove old coats as others have mentioned, just applied one on top of the other after the car was washed several times over a few weeks. I've never experienced any "build up", "dulling" or anything else detrimental. In fact my friend has a redfire GT also, but a coupe. He hasonly waxed his car once in the past year and only garages it about 50% of the time. When our cars are parked next to eachother you would think they're different colors. The orange peel on his car is just aweful! I'm tellin' you guys, the paint on our Fordsdoesn't hold up unless it's cared for, and it may not be noticeable unless you compare it to one that is.

drbobvs, I have to disagree with you when you say polishes and waxes are interchangeable now. While most major manufacturers include a small amount of polish in their waxes, the products I use when doing major detail jobs are not from Meguiar's, Mother's, Eagle 1, or anything like that. They are professional grade products, many from a company called Malco. They have different formulas for light paint, dark paint, mixed paint/clearcoat, multi-stage paint/clearcoat, no clearcoat paint jobs, etc. So while I'm not completely dismissing your idea, please note that this really only includes products that you can buy at places like Autozone, Wal-Mart and the like. In essense, mass produced items.

I've got about 10 coats of "polish" on now and the finish just keeps getting deeper.

Edit - Zaino has a Flash Cure activator that prepares the clear coat for their polish.
Dont take any advice from this idiot. Polish removes some of the clear coat every time u use it. Eventually he will remove his clear coat & paint to the primer!!!!!!!

That is an incorrect assumption. MF is the only towel that I use on the paint. I even used the " In case of Steaking" instructions printed on the back of the ICE bottle. Apparently TW knows its prone to streaking too.

My only complaint about Black Magic too, was that its a little to hard to get off. Not near as hard as Collinite SuperDoublecoat though. It I had to stay with one shelf wax it would probably be the NXT. My only complaint is that it seems only last 2-3 weeks and one hand wash (with meguiers soap). .

My 2 cents, haven't seen any recomendations for Klasse products.

They were really big with the BMW community, its a acrylic A-I-O from Germany. They also sell a high end sealant.

My routine for amazing paint went:
Claybar-> 2 coats Klasse AIO -> 1 coat Klasse Sealant-> Cheap Turtle Wax

The Klasse stuff made a nice base that lasts 6months if you garage your car, I'd Carnuba Wax once a month to bring back the deep shine. I'd throw on a few more layers of Carnuba if I wanted the car to look jaw dropping.
