Default RE: Electronic Throttle Response

Bringing this one back...make no mistake about it, these 3v drive by wire motors do not react like older cars, even after a tune. My '07 has mufflers, a CAI, and a Brenspeed tune. When I bought the CAI and tune I specifically brought up deceleration / off throttle lag / dashpot / whatever you want to call it. They specifically said there are limits to what they could do. After the tune, the car reacts much quicker to what I ask of it when increasing throttle (great job there Brenspeed!), but it is not dramatically better when I let off. The hanging rpms off throttle really sucks.

My pre-Whipple SCT tune was very crisp and eager although the dashpot 'return to idle' time was still appalling. However, you won't get the lazy dashpot issue to go away unless you radically alter it's settings in the tune, and then you'll getproblems with passing emission tests.
Ford should have used a faster, more powerful, OBC which samples quicker and which would be capable of shutting fuel flow down in a more timely fashion at throttle closeinstead of relying on the delayed dashpot settings to burn excess fuel away [:@]

'Dapshot', never knew what to call that. It drives me crazy and had me thinking my TB was screwed up or something was wrong with my tune. Thanks for the info.

So Marcus, are you saying the lag (on the way back) is a result of having to pass emissions?

Yea Sleeper, that's the only reason it does that. Ford dialled it in deliberately in order to burn unspent fuel before settling at idle.

Those bastards [:@]. Never had an issue with any car I had before.

LOL
Makes you wonder why it could be so hard to get the gases clean without resorting to cheapskate tactics like that.
My Dodge Hemi truck motor flicks up and down the rev range like a RaceCar compared to my Mustang. If Dodge can do it..............................?

Thanks for the info, I was wondering if it was some reason like that. I have to say DeStonn, the throttle is an issue with me. (Thanks to all who have listened to me on other threads, and yes, I know the tuning does fix it, MOSTLY). I consider myself a good driver (who doesn't) and I feel like I'm fighting for control of my own car. IWANT the car to tail or chirp if I miscalculate the throttle/shift a bit. I have never had this much trouble blipping a blippping throttle on a car.[:@] Ok, enough of that, I'll be good from now on.

This is my car, I want it to listen to me. I'm going to contact Brenspeed again, and I'm going to see if he can create a tune that optimizes throttle response, EVEN IF IT'S AT THE EXPENSE OFACHIEVING A MAX HP/TORQ. I'd pay extra for this. I'll let you know. Shaners, I am really interested in seeing what you find out.

When I ordered my SCT from Brenspeed last week I asked them about the throttle hang (deceleration delay) and they said that it was emissions related and they had done everything they could to improve it. I’m looking forwarded to receiving my SCT next week and see if the driveability is improved.
It would drive a heck of a lot better if the 5 speed didn’t have such extreme wide ratios that requires the RPM to drop so far to match the next higher gear. If it had a close ratio transmission like most sports car have the throttle hang wouldn’t be such a problem. As it is now you must shift in slow motion (while you are waiting for the RPM to drop) to keep the RPM matched to the next gear!
