Hi Jay0, thanks for the post. Are those pictures from your mustang? If so, it looks awesome! Can you tell me more about the override? I've read on a bunch of other reviews about the Z1 that this override gives a lot of error messages (something about the parking brake being disabled or something to that effect). Perhaps they set it up incorrectly. The 30 GB hard drive for recording songs is what looks most appealing to me. In your opinion, how good is the playback quality for mp3s?

yeah these are pics from my baby[8D]. This is the website with the instructions for the bypass. http://www.sminntech.com/z1flash.html . There are two bypasses that you can use and which one will depend on when your z1 was made. It says the date on the box and its really easy to figure out. For me I've never had a problem with any error messages at all and actually I've never heard of anybody that did. And the playback quality for MP3's is great, IMO I can't tell the difference between cd's and the mp3's that I recorded. Oh and only 10 gigs is for music recording, the other 20 is for the navi system. Go to www.Avic4111.com and look at the z1 forum and join and those guys there will really agree with me on how great the system is. My dad has the new lexus gs and he's ticked off he paid for the Lexus navi, since my Z1 is so much better and if I ever decide to get rid of the stang, I can just take it out and put it in my next car. Hope this helps, keep the questions coming if you have anymore.[8D]

Wow, thanks for the website links. Now it looks like I need to start pricing good deals on the Z1! I won't be installing it myself so do you know if professional installers can do this override? Not sure if this invalidates any warranty on the product or the installation service...

Not all installers will do the override for liability reasons. You will have better chances with places other than BB or CC. I love the Z1 and have had no problems with the bypass or any features on it. There is talk of a Z2 coming in less than a year possibly but there are also rumors that the Z1 will be upgradable to what a Z2 is basically. Unless you want it now I would hold off just a little while and see what news Pioneer releases. Avic411 is great! It has more info than you could ever want. Good luck with the purchase.

Any installer worth his weight in salt should be able to do it. While I was pricing out the install (around 150-200) I brought a printout of the bypass with me and asked if they would have any problems doing it as a prerequisite to me bringing them my car. The guy who did it for me said it was real straightforward, but on another note, you have to buy this thing from radioshack http://www.radioshack.com/product/in...2062599&cp

its a 5volt regulator and you need it so that the unit doesn't pop when you first turn the car on (its less than 2 bucks)

lastly you need a DOUBLE DIN face plate (so your installer doesn't charge you extra to fabricate one). I got mine from this guy on ebay for 30 bucks.

Oh and this post here on these forums is real good and should cover anything I didn't. Again, I've never had a problem with anything, and it is well worth the hassle of buying the 5volt regulator and faceplate.

My 07 GT arrived a couple of weeks ago with the factory navigation. It's a Pioneer unit with a 6 in dash CD changer. There is a power outlet and an auxilary input jack to plug an I-pod into the center console. It's option code 58X and retails for $1995.00, I ordered under X-plan dealer invoice is $1736.00. I've only used it a few times so far but am very happy with it.According to the manual only quick destinations are available when the vehicle is in motion, quick destinations looks like it has destination presets you add to an address "book", previous destinations entered, and an emergency tab for hospitals or police. Ihaven't had a chance myself to try the features when the vehicle is in motion. I wish I could try it prior to posting but its pouring outside and my car stays home when it's raining.Sorry no pictures, I don't have a digital camera.

I am interested in getting a nav system installed. I was wondering if there is a system that allows me to still have a 6 disc cd changer. Thank you!

The Pioneer Avic Z1 is better than a 6 disc changer because it stores up to about 2500 songs on the hard drive.
