Hi guys...

I am going to do a bumper swap on my GT for the GT500 bumper. I want to go with the GT500 hood too, but I am thinking of deleting the vents on the top.

Can anyone tell me what material the hood is made of? Is it fiberglass or metal? If it's metal...is it aluminum??

Why would you want to buy a GT500 hood and then get rid of its vents?
Just get a hood without vents... like the one you already have!
The GT500 hood should be aluminum, but the manual doesn't say. They call it a "power dome hood" and the vents are "functional heat extractors".

The GT500 hood is taller in the center, and the front near the grille is arched, giving the grille area a bigger, more agressive look.

The vents look totally silly to me, and cost an additional $600.

Not impossible with a TIG welder, some aluminum sheet, and patience and heat clay to prevent warping and a bunch of bodywork. Cost /labor wise, you will not come out ahead.

The aftermarket is already working on nicer vents. I think shelby themselves along with ford has something already.

600 for the vents??? Someone is ripping you off bro. I can get those vents for much much less then that. I can probably set you up with the entire hood for a little more then 600. FORD PARTS. Not re-po stuff.

Well I admit I didn't look into it too deeply. I had decided to use my stock hood but I really want that more agressive look. I had read in passing that the vents were $300 each, but maybe I am wrong.

So you can get stock parts? What can you get the front bumper, headlights, grilles, and fog lights for?
