Sherwood if you don't mind me asking, how much for drive shaft and how much for install? I think the spyder alum is about $500, am I right, anyone?
950.00 for the DS from LMPerformance. Install is very, very easy. It was installed along with some other work the shop did and there was no charge. They installed 3.73 Ring and Pinion and didn't charge me for the DS install since they had to drop the DS anyway.

I just had a new driveshaft installed. The BMR Carbon Fiber. Less than half the weight of the stock DS. There is a very noticeable increase in throttle response now. Can't wait to put it on the dyno and check the HP against what it was a few months back after the S/C install. I doubt the claim of a 15 HP increase but I'm sure there will be a little bump. Oh well, if there isn't a HP increase at least I won't have to worry about a DS failure since it's rated up to 1000 HP.

I had my shaft installed last fall for same reason if it lets go min damage. the hp differents may be hard to pick upI showed small amount 5 hp. i am hoping with the 10" torque converter I will see a bigger jump in rwhp. I don't know if i would buy another carbon fiber for the price.

3 & 1/2 " aluminum from Leathal Performance. 16 & 1/2 lbs and good to either 600 or 900 HP depending which one you get. I believe the cost is $700 & $800, I'll be doing one of these with an aluminum flywheel & upgraded clutch.

Awesome mod Sherwood! Lots of dough though. I'll probably go aluminum or steel myself.

6Xstang: Anytime you can reduce engine driven rotating weight it will effect performance drastically. The reason the car will feel that it revs quicker is because it will rev quicker in gear while accelerating. Obviously if you were just revving the engine out of gear you would not notice any change. The engine loses HP and torque to spin the driveline components: flywheel, clutch assembly, transmission, driveshaft, differential, axles and wheels. When you can reduce the weight of these driveline components it will effect the performance in a positive way. That means more power will meet the road and less lost in the driveline. Also rice burners have very short stroke motors. Short stroke = faster revs, low torque. Longer stroke= slow revs, higher torque. Our motors are definately not short stroke. But remember, quick revs do not necessarily mean fast cars. It takes torque behind the HP to make your car move. So, one peice lightweight driveshafts are always a great mod!

+1, Moose. Add aluminum flywheel, aluminnum pulleys and you'll be surprise how the rev goes up faster. I mean, faaaaasst.
