Fuel Tank Issue

RE: Fuel Tank Issue
Take a look inside the wheel well where the ??1"?? big fill hose that
has thecorrigated plastic wire loom over it goes from the filler in the
fender to the tank that straddles the driveshaft.
It goes down low to clear the sheetmetal and then ??back up?? to
the inlet to the tank. This causes some sort of vapor lock when
the tank is 3/4 full. If I give it all its got from the get go, I never
have a fill up problem but if you ever let off for just a second,
the flow down the fill hose looses the "siphon" effect on the
following fuel and pop pop pop popgoes the handle until full.

RE: Fuel Tank Issue
I have had my car, an 06 since oct of 06. I have had a few problems filling up would click off after a second, sometimes I did that several times, but I was always able to fill it up without it spilling on the ground, never had that problem, knock on wood! The last 2 times I went to fill up, it would stop at 3/4 of a tank or about 11.46 gallons(both times-don't know if it is a coincedence or not) and would not put any more fuel in, no matter how much I stroked it, and talked nice. I tried talking dirty and that did not help either, so today she goes into the shop to have Ford take a look at it. Hopefully they can "duplicate" the problem. My dealership has always been great about fixing stuff on my car, usually minor stuff, but gave me no problem, lets hope that continues.

RE: Fuel Tank Issue
I have the same problem, with mine, but it seems to be gas station dependant. I have not had my tank replaced, but when I bought my car unbeknownst to me my gas tank was not attached to my car, so day three of ownership I came out to my car to find it sitting in a puddle of gas. Needless to say I was not impressed. After being deemed safe to be flat bedded by the fire department, my car went back to the dealer and the tank was attached.

RE: Fuel Tank Issue
My Mustang was built in May 05. If I put the gas nozzle at 6 o'clock, it will click off. If I put the nozzle at 3 o'clock position, it is always no problem to fill gas ( no click off until the tank is full, no pill out ). Should I take the car to the dealer to replace the gas tank or just pump gas at 3 o'clock position?

RE: Fuel Tank Issue
Getting mine replace today! I took mine in since I had issue with wiper motor making noise (they replaced) and driver door handle not retracting. I always had the gas issue just waited until I put it in for something else.

RE: Fuel Tank Issue
Mine I tried in the 3 o clock, flipper upside down, 9 o clock, all click, not so much every dollar, but every couple of dollars. I have not found any position that wont click at all. The dealer wont take my car back until they have a new idea.
