Default Gauges???

I posted a thread on this a while back and didn't get any answers ...well, any GOOD answers...

I want to switch my Speedo with my Tach...I don't really care about the MPH and I look at the Tach more anyways...Has anyone done this or can anyone point me in the right direction as to researching getting this done???

Thanks

Dave

You're right it is and I think I know why...cuz it sucks on the left!!! IMO anyways...no one seems to know or want to know how to do it...I don't think it would be that hard...

I believe all the dash guages are connected to one large circuit board. You would have to swap the entire dash guages and circuit boards with the GT500.too costly...

I am certain that it could be done. Two things I would recomend if this is something you have your heart set on.
1. contact Saleenthey have a machine that helps them convert the speedo to their 200 mph speedo. Since they are familiar with the inards of it they should be able totell you if they are swapable.
2. IfSaleencannot help you buy a new one from ford and take it apart to see how it works. (I think theguage cluster is like 2-300 bucks) Once you understand how it is all put together you should be able to swap them with a little soudering and extension of wires.
I could be way off on how it is constructed but like I said if you have to attempt it yourself do it with a spare first. There is no telling how that thing is actually put together.

As long as there are seperate signal wires going to each gauge, it should be possible to swap them, but you'll have to swap the incoming signals also. if you're not familiar with electronics, it will be a real pain. From what I've seen of gauge clusters in the past, I don't think I'd really want to mess with it and I'm an Electronics Tech. You'd also have to swap the gauge faces.

Best bet would be to see if someone else like Saleen already does this and buy it. That or get a spare gauge set and experiment.
