Yeah, I agree. It's only a cover for the airbag, so it has to be hinged on one side and snap-on on the other so it can move out of the way of the airbag when it deploys. I doubt it's even part of the steering wheel itself since the airbag assembly is a separate unit. That's why I can't believe that BS they gave petepete. Typical of a service department that's not focused on the customer. Even if they had to order it, I would guess about a 24 hour turnaround.

Yeah, not too sure about a week to replace it, but it's not just a stick on--if it was and your airbag deployed you would have a pony and tri-bar embedded in your forehead. Not too fun.

Like Mike said, have them order the new wheel, I had the wheel/airbag replaced in my F250 it took less than 30 minutes and I was back on the road.

There was like a 50 page thread about this on Themustangsource.com I had mine replaced by the local dealership, they do not replace the entire steering wheel but they do replace the air bag assembly as it is one piece. Mine was absolutely horrible looking, I thought someone jacked off all over it when they were clearing it at the factory. A week is a little ridiculous, it only took my dealership 2 days and they did some other work as well. Hope that helps.

Well I don't want it to look like its every 05+ Mustang. Mine is perfect... no imperfections. Its only 8 months old though. I did have some spots on mine but they wiped right off with a damp cloth. I probably just drooled a little when I floored it. Try cleaning first.

Its below the plastic surface. Dealer replaced the airbag assembly under warranty.
