I agree with all you guys.
but I disagree, sometimes having that name is the reason you buy (saleen, roush, shelby etc)
I paid about 47k for a brand new N/A saleen, could I both a gt and clone like the saleen for less.........YES......would it be a saleen......NO
At the end of the day, I never dog anyone for paying over sticker for a car that is produced in low volume.
IMO.... I may have a Saleen N/A (for now) and some guy pulls up in a 05 Gt with a S/C.......but iMO I still have a saleen and I think my car looks better than yours lol......kidding.

anyway offer sticker and see what they say
+1

also, Shop around if they dontlet you haveit for sticker......It can be done.....Trust me.....

Go for sticker price that's not the only one. Personally i'd get the GT and make it your own custom ride for the same or less. Remember you've got to be happy at the end of the day. Weather it's a modded GT or a Shelby.

Just get a regular Mustang GT in black, add silver stripes, a hood scoop, front spoiler and a few other outside markings and you have a Shelby GT...

Add some engine mods to add HP and you save, save, save $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$...

I disagree with some of you. $4K over MSRP is not that bad. I have been closely following the prices since they were announced. In SoCal
the range is from 7K over to 30K over. However I would sit back and watch for a short time to see if they go fast. You can get a reg GT for about 3K under and spend 3 to 4K and have a clone. if you just GOTTA HAVE IT.... spend the $4K and you will have the real deal....

I looked at a Shelby GT the other day when I bought my GT. I did not pay too much attention to how much they marked it up, but the final price was $42K. They had the Stage 1 Roush for 40K and had a GT/CS for 31K. Ithink the speciality cars looked great, but I could not make myself get off the extra, so I just stayed with the GT.

Thanks for the input. They had a blk/blk GT/CS that a brought home last night while they try and figure out how to get a good number on my trade. I see why you guys like this car so much. It's a unique drive. I'll offer sticker for the Shelby and see. The've had two and the last one sold for 8k over sticker!! IF I go with the GT/CS, I plan on getting the Handling Package. They are making me a great deal on it. Can you send some recommendations to cheaply increase HP as well. Also, will the Handling Package reduce the rear end roll by a lot or a little? I am considering the same cool air induction that the Shelby comes with and have the dealer install that as well. Any thing else?

The deal right now is $28,500 for the GT/CS and $42,885 for the Shelby GT.

Why not go for the whole FRPP (CAI, 93 octane racing tune, and GTA mufflers with 4 inch double-walled tips)?
With the exception of an x-pipe (which only adds 5 h.p., costs $380, and will give you a "raspy" exhaust tone instead of a deep growl),
this is the EXACT same performance package that comes on the Shelby GT (and GT-H)...!
Because your car is still new, you'll qualify for the FULL 3 year / 36,000 mile warranty on everything too IF you have it installed by an authorized Ford "Motorsports" dealer.
I couldn't be happier with my FRPP, and sleep like a baby at night knowing my factory warranty is fully intact for the next 3 years!

There is a great DVD that came with the Mustangs and Fast Fords Magazine that shows a buildup on the 2006 GT. Takes you through the cold air kit and on to the super charger. I think it was the Jan or Feb issue. They dyno each bolt on.
