Default Mustang GT modifications/chicago?

Hi,

I'm getting a 2005GT convertible. I want to put either the Saleen or Cervini complete body kit
with exhaust on it.And some other modifications.

I have a few questions and I really appreciate any help.

What perfomance modifications would you recommend for a max of $3,000?

What HP increases can I expect to get for that?

I'd rather get an automatic GT, but I can drive a manual.
Pros/cons?

How has the reliability been so far on the new GT?

Any recommendations for mustang modifyers within
a 100 miles of chicago would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.
Gavin.

i heard about http://www.suttonhp.com/
no personal experience with them though. they're about 32 miles south of chicago in matteson.
i'll have to get in touch with them pretty soon for a S/C install.
there's also anderson ford i think which is a saleen authorized dealer.
anyone else please chime in

A lot of people are going to tell you to wait off and save your money for Forced Induction, and that's all fine and dandy if that's the route you want to go. My advice would be to rid the car of it's weak points. Start with the suspension. A lot of stamped steel/flimsy pieces under there. Next, get a 1 pc Driveshaft. It drives me absolutely nuts everytime I hear it clunk. CAI & Tune is always a good first performance buy. The tuner is very important and useful for these cars. Though like I said, if you plan on going Forced Induction some systems don't allow you to use your new fancy CAI, so it depends on you.
