Why would you wanna do that? You'll have sidewalls that taper IN to the rims (bow out), and the car won't steer or respond worth a damn...
i was thinking of shoehorning set of 275's on the back as many people have posted they have had them fit no problem, but i was thinking, if one was to just let it rip and do some doughnuts, would it be possible to have the bead of the tire rip off the wheel because of the tapering in issue?

you should be fine. Your speedo will be off unless you change the revs/mile reading.

I checked with the tire calculation and if you go to 255's the speed O will be .3mph off. That is not too bad. So if you are going 60mph with stock tires with the 255's the accual speed will be 60.3. Yes, you can change this with your tuner. You will have to change the rev/mile. I would probably do that. If it was a little slow it would not matter to me, but a little fast will rack up a few more miles. Good luck.

The 255 should go on without issue, but it will change your speed O just a bit. You are changing the height; the width doesn't change anything. Maybe look for 255/55/17 and your speed O will remain true. you can punch in the numbers on this site and calculate how far it is going to be off. http://www.1010tires.com/TireSizeCalculator.aspIt probably will be a very small difference. I have been looking into this same issue, because I would like to put a little more rubber on the ground as well. Good luck.
Just to correct this fella... A 255/50/17 is the proper tire height. 255/55/17 will be an inch higher and different from the stock tire height. Stock height is 27 inches. A 255/55/17 will be 28 inches.

An easy way to translate and understand the sizing is to convert it mathematically.

Stock Tire:
235 divided by 25.4 (This changes it to inches.) = 9.25 inches wide.
9.25 multiplied by .55 (The sidewall height) = 5.09 inches.
5.09 x 2 + 17(Multiplying the sidewall and then adding the size of the wheel to determine the height of the entire package.) = 27.18

255/50/17:
255 divided by 25.4 = 10.04 inches wide.
10.04 multipled by .50 = 5.02
5.02 x 2 + 17 = 27.04

Note that the sizes aren't exact, but it's as close you are going to get for that series of tire.

Hope that helps.

its kinda hard to find a 255/55/17 in a good brand. I searched and there arent any kdw like some people have suggested.

If your going with a wider tire on stock rims what have you guys come up with as choices?
