to find you local laws regarding noise levels of an exhaust system

Unless you live in a large country/city metro area most rely on state regulations, so check your local state web site for applicable statutes.
From what I've been told, 95dB seems to be the general standard that most have adopted (where a specific noise level is set).

Thanks mlcrycc. didi you read it at all? are they pretty much saying you cant replace your muffler with something louder than stock?
