Default RE: Shaker Hood Scoop Install - Please Help

hey guys I have two random questions:

1. can you cover this with one of the "non functional" hood scoops if you like the way they look?
Why on Earth would you install a Shaker scoop, then cover it with a non-functional scoop?

2. if you're thinking about getting this, does it make any sense at all to get a CAI / tune, or should you just save your money and get this instead?
The CDC Shaker system adds little to noHP gains. But, it is functional as it provides additional 'cold air' (at high speeds) to the air filter.
If you're looking for cost vs HP, get a CAI and tune.

ok here's a 3rd bonus question:
does it void the warranty?
If your warranty claim is in any way connected to the air intake system, airbox included, my guess is yes.

Default RE: Shaker Hood Scoop Install - Please Help

Matt,

FYI - I just called James. He seems like a great guy. He would do the install for $55 per hour at 4 hours so $220 - sounds perfect. He says he has done the install before. I will probably pick up the shaker hood at Steeda and then drive over to him - Pomano is about 50 - 60 miles form where I live.

Thanks you very much for the help and great reference! Greatly appreciated.

(I had called about 10 places yeaterday with no luck)

BTW - How do like your shaker system? Any problems or tips? Does it still use the stock intake also or is it blocked off?

Thanks again!!!

Hey Will,

I was in the same boat as you with the shaker. I ended up just having my uncle cut my hood and help me do it myself, to save the money, but before I did that, I found this guy James up in pompano, who gave me the best price on an install, in fact he had just done one a week or so before, so he knows what he is talking about. He is a mustang body shop, so give him a call 754-235-1485. Tell him Matt with the 05 red Gt recommended you call him. He quoted me anywhere from 250-300 for the install, which is very reasonable, I think steeda wanted over 400 and so did blow by racing. Good luck
