atta boy!

jeez, Rock, we're in the same spot, man! For me it's all about being practical right now, but BY GUM if I had the jack I'd be owning me a 2005 Cobra the day it hit the lot. I drove an 05 GT and it was just ignert amounts of power! What a rush!

Haha. I know whatcha mean. A guy that works with me has an 05 sonic blue GT...my dream color and everything. I'm so jealous. haha. But, I'm 19 and still managing to get through college, which is most important to me. Then I can cruise around in a hot cobra when I get settled.

Thunder, with all due respect because you know I give it, but DON'T ride in an '05 GT unless you're prepared to throw rocks at your '03. Maybe you won't. I'm just saying be prepped. [sm=boohoo.gif]
I drove, back-to-back, an '04 GT with 200 miles on it and then an '05 GT with 350 miles on it and it was apples and oranges, man. Now, with the mods you have made, yours would probably be faster than an '05, tit for tat. [sm=smiley20.gif] But this '05 was WAAAAAAY faster than the stock '04, had a 6-speed, Shaker 1000 system, etc. [sm=loveeyes.gif] The killer factor was the way the 05 felt. No comparison. The ergonomics of the 05 compared to the 04 made the biggest difference. In our generation, it feels to me like everything is far away: I am 6'1", and I feel like I need to reach for everything - radio, A/C, fan controls yada yada yada, because I need the seat so far back because I'm tall. Not so in the 05. Feels like a cockpit...very snug. The seats are so much more comfortable, lots of leg room, controls are fingertip easy to reach, you feel like you're sitting lower in the car, and the ride is maybe not day and night better, but dawn and noon. To say absolutely NOTHING of the gauge display. Oofdah! The 05's is A LOT better. [sm=trust_me.gif]Steering is more responsive, the handling is better, and the "feel" for the road is much more prevalent. The car lets you know better where you stand with your pavement relations. Now they wanted to deal like a mo fo on the 04, and wouldn't give an inch on the 05. Payments were like $425 on the 04 and close to $600 on the 05 despite havin similar stickers. Makes a difference, but there is no way I would buy the 04 new. I'd wait until I can afford an 05. I would buy a Cobra if I could, though.[sm=tongue.gif]

y did u get the v6 if u want to mod??...

I think one of the main reasons is about $5-6k in cost and the insurance. Being in NYS for one, I am thinking twice about V8 power becasue of the ridiculous insurance I would have to pay and I'm almost 50 with no tickets in the past 8-10 years!

Intakes, exhaust, chips, wheels...all would cost less than the $5-6k difference for the GT. Too each his (her) own...it's still a sweet ride!

The Camaro's were nice while they lasted but the Mustang lives on. I do like the early Camaro's but then the body style just stayed the same until they were discontinued. During the height of the Mustang/Camaro era, it was the decision of the buyer which manufacturer they liked better. Sure there were some ups and downs with the Mustangs throughout the years but they survived.

92camaro....I was told by my salesman when I bought my 02 not to baby the car from day one that they breakin better without having to take it easy. I have driven my 02 the same since day one and I haven't had any problems with the car. It now has 84000 miles and all I have done was new tires, alignments and oil and filter changes. I haven't even replaced the brakes but I am sure they are getting close by now.

Peace to you too, homey!! Glad we didn't run you off!

I'm telling you right now, 92, you can spend A LOT of time around here and pick up A LOT of clues. So much that I wouldn't even know where to tell you to begin. Just surf. Ask a few questions here and there, too, and chime in. Starting this thread didn't end up the way you intended, I know, but if we can get this one back on course, you'll be rolling in ideas in no time. You might even try starting another one - this one's gotten so far off track of where it was intended to go.

Neckbraker said back on 12/2 that it's early on figuring out mods, and he's partially right. But I'm telling you, http://www.steeda.com/ is going to give you A LOT to look at. Understandably, the aftermarket is geared towards V8 power, so V6 stuff will take a tad more effort. But it's there. You might even try to give them a call.

I have found that on this forum, it seems that we have a whole lot of serious fans, but mostly casual modifiers for whatever reason (present company included), save a select few. There are some dead serious high mod racing dudes in here, to be sure, and sooner or later you're going to run into them, and their insight will be able to help you a lot.

But even then all this 05 stuff is so new, it's impossible to be well-schooled on modding an 05 because they haven't been out long enough to know what works for them in particular! Now it won't take long for the public to get up to speed, but it's a catch-22 for you right now. But you have your basic stuff to start with that I know is out there: Cold-air intake (seen those for 05's), headers (have heard about those), true dual exhaust (available anywhere at a local muffler shop as long as they know what they're doing about oxygen sensors and bung locations, etc.)
