After seeing those pictures I have decided that my reception is perfectly fine!

It's a lot easier than it looks but unless you are removing your external antenna altogether it's probably not worth it. My 8" shorty used to work just fine.

3. The old antenna plug I pulled out of the back of the Shaker looked like a coax connection with a collar on it. The new antenna looks more like an RCAconnector. The new antenna lead did fit but it doesn't feel like a positive engagement. Seems to work. We'll see long term.

Yup i ran into this problem and i was dumbfounded as to why it was different. Seems they did this for the navigation. I tried to splice the factory antenna wire into my aftermarket HU to no avail. So i went with that amplified antenna.

That looks like a lot of work. For all that I would run a satelite radio antenna. It would work good in the same spot. Just a suggestion. I never listen to FM though. Great pics.

ORIGINAL: TacoBill

After wasting an hour trying to locate a keyed 12V power source, I used an empty plug in the center console (under the cup holders) that I suspect is used for autos.
So, the official keyed 12V wire is the BLUE with YELLOW stripe.

Here is a diagram of connector C307 - Transmission Shift Selector
that Taco used. I dont see a Blue/Yellow wire anywhere on the diagram.
Looks like the Violet/White wire for the OD cancel switchisa 12V
switched and fused wire.

TacoBill, you're the man.
I have the exact same antena... Been in the trunk for 6 months now[8D].
I will put it in and weld the holes shut on my fender where the OEM base is. I'll have to repaint the fender, of course, but it'll have a clean look.
Won't be no traces of an antena being there.
