You are not going to gain anything by doing a burnout with stock street tires. Just do a quick little blip to clean them off.

RE: What RPM do you launch at?
WhenI get to the trackI first open my hood to let my car cool off, while it's cooling I air up the front tires to 45psi for less rolling resistance and better wait transfer to the rear tires. I then lower the rear tires to 24-25psi, this helps them hook much better then if they were at 32psi. I then go around the waterbox and back up just a little to get enough room to spin the tires and clean them off and pick up some sticky rubber. I then stage very shallow and get my rpm's up to about 3000rpms and quickly slip the clutch and roll into the throttle at same time so the rpms don't fall off when I'm totally off the clutch. I usually get a little spin but not much. This gets me consistent 2.0 60ft on street tires and a 1.98 once.

Only problem with the Houston Raceway Park is that there really isnt a way to avoid the water Also noted that i use traction control most of the time and it seems to work. Next time i go im going to try it without TCS

+1. Avoid the water box!

As for RPM launch, I was anywhere between 1000-2000 RPM, but couldn't seem to keep the rear end stuck, and was swaying over the track (however, I wasn't the only one with this problem; the track was really slick).
