This really isn't that difficult. If you really can't figure out the difference between tasteful modifications/rebadging and ricer behavior, then you are probably better off just leaving your car alone. I mean, just stop and ask yourself....Is this cool or not? Putting GT badges on a V6 is uncool. Putting Cobra badges on a GT is uncool. Pony badges on any model Mustang?Pefectly fine. How did this end up being rocket science? Seems like there is a thread on this every week.

Iwas thinking about going with some old school gt350 badges.

These for the sides-

These for the grill and back-
http://www.tntmustangconnection.com/item1516.shtml

My purpose isn't to try and pass my car off as something its not, but to get some decent badges on my car that every other car doesn't have. I like old school, not that liter 4.0/4.6 crap. As long as the car looks good who cares, if it makes you happy and it suits your tastes do it and screw everybody else.

Well it would be WEAK and it is ment for discussion but if it isn't cool enough for you, you didn't have to respond.
Since the PONY package was a model for this version, putting a pony on a GT is rebadging and wouldn't be fine. Its by your definition RICE, right? How is it perfectly fine? Is it a pony?

Thanks for reading the OP and not attacking anyone personally, I never said I was doing anything to my car, you assumed it!

Like "SonicBlue05GT" said, the pony emblem symbolizes a Mustang, not a v6 Mustang. I like the way the pony looks on the side of Stangs, so I would actually take off the GT and put on the pony, which is for all Mustangs because thats whata Mustang is, a pony.

Rebage is OK as long as you leave some distinct clue that it is a rebadge, no 100% clones!

If I knew a good body person (or had a much more significant budget) I'd go the opposite route and 'de-badge'.
No GT emblems, fake gas filler badge, pony, antennae ...
Just a sleek black shadow that looks like Death on the road.

guy, the pony emblem is also on the GT. it's on the steering wheel and centercaps.

so technically, yes, it did come on the car.

If someone puts GT500 stripes on a GT that say "GT500", that's just like badging it a Mach 1, Boss, etc.

There's a lot of that going on with the 05-07 Mustangs because they do look similar to the Mustangs of the 60s and everyone had their favorite edition of those cars... and everyone wants their own new version of one, so they do a clone (usually half-assed) because:

1) they can't afford the real thing such as a Shelby
or
2) because Ford hasn't made their favorite special edition yet

IMO, it doesn't matter if it's a V6 or GT car being 'cloned' or 'rebadged' as something else, either way, it's wrong... though I must admit that some of the 'more complete' conversions do look really nice.

I know where your going, I should have stated the whole package, CLONE with badges....

So I heard the above say that putting a Pony on a GT is ok...why? Is that what came on the car? Aren't you trying to pass it off as something it isn't???? For the S197 the PONY is a package so its in a sense a model so you are putting on fake bages right?
Is a GT owner bending the rules by putting on GT500 Rocker stripes?....sorry no offense to the GT guys just a question.
Listen I'm just debating here, I am not taking one side or the other. My car is stock badged and it will always stay that way. I am not attacking anyone, please don't think that!

Don't do it. If I find a clone, I will **** on your wheels.

Heres my opinion on it. If you have a V6 or GT and go put a roush body kit on it, don't put roush badges on it. Because if you type in the vin its not going to say roush. Why try to fool people? If you wanted one, you should have bought one. If you just want the look, make sure people know thats all it is. The same goes for a cobra body kit. Its not a cobra. I love when V6 guys, hell even GT's. Put cobra body kits on and slap the cobra badges on. Hmmm, no. I know this is just me, I went the extra mile on my 2004. I loved the looks of the 03/04 cobra rear bumper. And I paid the extra money to have it filled to be smooth. Even posted on SVTperformance.com and asked if it was cool and had all positive responses. Now, like a few others on here. The shelby front end is f'ing awesome, and the people changing them out are doing it right. They are not adding the snake to the grill. Thats just fine with me. Ok, i'm leaving now. lol. Enough ranting.

some clarification might be due.
Slapping those Shelby GT 350 badges on isn't cloning. That's more of creating a Tribute car. I have no problem with seeing that, especially if it's done accurately. Only a total clueless dork is going to think your S197 "GT350" is a vintage car or even the new Shelby GT.
In a way, since they aren't making any Cobras with this model (yet!), any Cobra tribute would have to be of the last model Cobras, or the Vintage ones. Not the GT500, because it doesn't say "Cobra" on that one!

Personally, I think there's going to be one heck of an aftermarket in trying to restore all of our Mustangs back to original condition in 20 years!!! They'll be selling factory air intakes for $500!
