Wtf... do we all have different emblems based on year or something? Because I have one that is covered with plastic in the middle...there is no black paint or anything exposed.

 

Are you sure it's not just something for temporary protection. I didn't have anything on mine.

 

Check Daniels response 10 or so posts up... he tried his and its plastic over top of something. Im thinking some of us have different caps. Both of you who were able to do it have 07s ... I have a friend with an 07 so Ill compare their emblem to see if its different from mine.

 

the steel wool (be it fine) didnt scratch the badge at all?

 

I must have either misread or just totally missed that post. My emblem is metal not plastic. Maybe they made that change in 07'.

Christ that's beautiful . If I get it I'll be buying my steel wool and do it before the install. I scratched mine too but it's not really that noticeable but I'm obsessive Compulsive.

 

Just make sure it's a good quality 00 steel wool and take your time. Chrome actually looked better when I was done, no scratches at all.
